What a fabulous night of culture and family entertainment!!! Amina Blackwood and Richard Darby were the very amusing co-hosts for the night of culture at Taino Cove. What a great way to start out the festival. The night was well attended and everyone had a wonderful time!!

I'm now running out the door to attend the Talking Trees Literary Fiesta!

The Talking Trees Literary Fiesta held Saturday was another great segment of the Treasure Beach Bread Basket Festival. The Children's Corner provided literary, arts, and crafts entertainment for the children for several hours. Good food, arts, hand made clothes, etc. were for sale. The Farmer's Market was a great hit!

But, of course, the main reason we all came was to hear the writers, and we were not dissappointed! Unfortunately, I was called away and missed several readings but each one I got to hear I thoroughly enjoyed and left me wanting more! I especially enjoyed Joan Andrea Hutchinson who not only entertains but always has a message to pass on under all the laughter.

And it is always so great to see the book store, provided by Bookophilia, filled with persons buying books!

Really and truly a wonderful day!

An Evening of Song should be renamed to A Delightful and Thoroughly Entertaining Evening of Song. In spite of the very hot temperature Sharon Martini and Denny Davis turned the heat up even more with their performance.

The night opened and closed in prayer given by Rev. Fr. Peter D. Clarke.

Ms. Martini then absolutely mesmerized the crowd with her strong vocal talents with classical selections including Pie Jesu and O Mio Babbiono Caro, Jazz and Musicals selections including Night and Day, I Could Have Danced All Night, and had some help from two young ladies in Lonely Goatherd (Sound of Music).

Her renditions such beloved Negro Spirituals as Steal Away, Honor, Honor and Deep River were deeply moving. We were even treated to one of Ms. Martini's owe songs Black Angel.

But I think everyone's favorite part of the night was the sing-along with old Jamaican favorites including Evening Time, Fan Mi Soldier Man, and what was supposed to be the last song, Walk Good.

When Walk Good was completed there was a standing ovation from the standing room only crowd which had gathered. And encores were demanded. I believe there were three encores in all before the audience finally allowed Ms. Martini and Mr. Davis off the stage.

Wow!! What a fabulous evening of song! Bravo!!

Proceeds from this night were to benefit abused women in St. Elizabeth and in particular Ms. Patricia Brown who is a fire and abuse victim.

The Bread Basket Brunch at Sunset Resort was the best brunch I've ever attended at Sunset Resort. Kory South and staff outdid themselves this time! The amount of food was staggering - or was it the Mimosas and Bloody Mary's in the juice dispensers that made me stagger?!?!?!

The Jah Squad Band set just the right mood for relaxing Jazz and R&B playing while we enjoyed the delicous food sitting right next to the sea. Then the band picked up the pace a bit giving us a chance to dance off some of those calories.

Once again, the attendance was very good and all had a great time! I really didn't want to leave . . .

A Night of Great Entertainment at Jack Sprat . . . it sell off!!! Of course, all of you who know me know I am an early to bed kinda girl so I did not attend. However, I asked several of my friends who did attend and the comments all were positive. One person told me it was one of the best stage shows he ever attended as the quality of sound and the quality of performers was top notch. It was a night of good vibes and good culture reggae filled with conscious lyrics provided by Tanya Stephens, Rootz Underground, Protoje, and Code Red Disco.

Jack Sprat was full of people. One friend said, "Nuff heads did de deh". Maybe I should have drank some Red Bull and stayed up because it sounds like I really missed a Night of Great Entertainment fi true!

The Fashion and Art at Calabash House was a beautiful way to round off the weekend of festivities. The art gallery highlighted a number of artists featuring paintings, photography, masks, jewelry, clothes, carvings, and so much more. But my words cannot explain as well as the photos can show so . . .

I am very impressed. It seems like it was well planned. What a rich family and cultural presentation! More power to the organizers and participants. And, as usual a big puff of guinep blossom fragrance for our kind and able reporter, Rebecca.
