Can any one inform us of the project or projects in south west St.Bess.by the MP utilizing the CDF in 2010.

For those who do not know about the CDF. The constituency development fund was implemented by the JLP Gov., after it took office in 2007.

The program allows all MPs to spend $40 million on projects in their constituencies annually.

it is actually $20 million. Please disseminate information correctly

The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) seeks to improve the effectiveness of Members of Parliament as a designated funding mechanism for constituency projects.

The main thrust of the Fund being is to promote human and infrastructure development at the community and constituency levels through the establishment of sustainable development projects. This will be done by: catalyzing economic activities at the Constituency level; fostering local governance, including good environmental stewardship; improving service delivery and bring government and the public closer together; and increasing the effectiveness of the elected representative.

To date the fund has been used to rehabilite houses for indigents, fix roads, undertake agricultural projects, repair basic schools and community centres, provide back-to-school assistance, and on sports and healthy lifestyle projects.

These programmes, combined with the JSIF (Jamaica Social Investment Fund) and other social programmes represent a meaningful effort on the part of Government to strengthen the social safety net.
How To Submit A Project

Communities submit a project document to the CDF Unit, OPM. The projects must fall within the categories identified:

* Development, rehabilitation and maintenance of small scale community projects
* Economic enablement
* Welfare and emergency (5% of fund allocated for this purpose).

Contact the office in your region
Parish Project

Each year, a parish project, which is funded equally by all constituencies in that parish is to be jointly implemented.
Project Evaluation

The CDF evaluates the project submitted prior to submission to the Parliamentary Committee for approval. Funds are disbursed to the relevant implementing agencies.

Like your name suggests you are a "lone" on this one !See above link for clarification sir. we consider the Gleaner a potent and credible source of reference. It would be nice to know the source from whic you quoted your findings and emperical data. Kindly oblige the forum. It is a good thing that I posed the question, considering the number of perons thinking it was actually 20 as opposed to forty million. The article of reference was cited in the Daily Gleaner July 30, 2009. Now , if it is that current findings suggest that therer was a reduction from $40 mil to $20 then I think for information purposes it would have been worth our while having this discourse.

VAWHN is correct. The very same website referenced by lonecrusader, under sub heading "1241 Projects..." states that "...every MP was allocated $40 million to develop projects in their constituencies."

the fact of the matter is that when persons are called to meetings they do not attend.there have been Many CDF consultations across the parish over the last three years where the figure of the CDF allocation was disclosed many times.Over the last two budget periods there has been severe cut backs for the CDF, the original allocation of $40 million was cut to trim the budget of 2010-2011.I realize though that many persons prefer to just discredit and make a mockery of our system of governance, whilst i do not at this point hold the government in high regard i will respect the office and its officers until the time comes for me to make a change and vote them out.Since the CDF was instituted at least one MP has been kind enough to give quarterly financial statements as to the spending of the CDF. I do believe that you have a right to know what it is being spent on and i challenge you as well as other citizens to ask of the MP where the money is gong and how much he got.
so in response to your statement. the source was the office of the prime ministers website as the link shows ( check it next time )now Vaughn u seem to be an intelligent person please help to build Jamaica by showing some of your research on the CDF and try not to be the one tearing it down

Gentlemen , the debate was never about whether your tatement was wrong or not, just simple clarification. Lets not redue this to the ridiculous. I did somne calling and research as suggested and indeed found that said budget was indeed cut to 20 mil , from 40 mil, o there is merit in both arguments.. HAd you stated in your initial post that the figure arrived at was a reduced one or even referrenced a source of information, this discussion would have been aoided with further emphasis being placed on how the funds were/are being spent..Have a peaceful Easter ..OLIVER MCLAEN.

Thanks Bowl,a simple explanation is all it takes. All I was trying to get was correct information. With a programs like this, transparenccy is a key element for success.I cannot conceive how seeking information could be construed as`tearing it down'.

Whilst some people would consider voting out this Government, I would have to ask them. What would they replace it with?

This reminds me of my grandmother, when she was over ninety years old she became a bit senile. She would throw out garbage, like old goblet, washhand basin etc. then the following day would go back and pick them up, then complain that the children threw away her good things. I know you are not one of those who are going to become senile at an early age.

How is the road from Frenchman to Bluntas Hill?. That is one area of development that I would like to see when I Get there.
