I received the following email from our dear friend and former Peace Corp Volunteer Patti Shannon. Patti and her husband Joe were here during Hurricane Ivan and worked non-stop to help out with the relief effots in Treasure Beach.

I'm sure all of us join in with "One Love" and are offering what we can to help out those in need in Japan.

Dear Friends and Family,

Some of you know I volunteer for the Red Cross, so you have asked me how you can help with Japan relief efforts.

Here is Coralie Matayoshi’s (our Hawaii Red Cross CEO) response:

Thanks so much for your wonderful compassion. What the Japanese Red Cross needs right now is money.

As far as relief baskets (care packages), the Red Cross does not accept in-kind donations of goods because of the cost and logistical problems of transporting, warehousing, sorting, and distributing the goods on the other end, and the fact that the goods might not be needed. Another factor is that if money is sent and spent in Japan, it will help
stimulate their devastated economy. Instead of collecting goods, we tell people to have a garage sale and donate the proceeds to the American Red Cross for the relief effort.

Checks should be made out to the American Red Cross, Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami. Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Coralie

Look at the jet stream and research MOX fuel. TV will not tell the whole story. Supporters of the nuclear reactor industry insiders have been affecting government decisions by many means. Scientists warned against the politicians keeping weapons grade out of certain hands by recycling in reactors. Now it may be on all of us to one degree or other. Chernobyl is in all of us now, even infinitesimally.

Big money, low conscience. I can hear the denials. The trials later on will be most interesting.

Time for that solar cell factory in Jamaica. No more jestering!!! Hemp and more too. Do not wait on fools.
