It is not used recreationally, but as a medication for pain and spasm control.

There are tinctures available as well, which are made from the plant itself, and have all the natural THC and other elements found in cannibus sativa. This is often used for cancer patients here in Canada. They also have vapourizors for use with the dried leaves. Doctors prescribe it and the Compassion Club provides it legally.

Apparently high concentrations of ingested (not smoked) THC can stop tumor growth in certain cancers, such as lung, skin, and brain cancer, according to studies by Harvard University and other academic institutions.

Do your own research. Google: 'rick simpson cancer cure' and also 'studies thc cure cancer.'

Studies were done about the cancer curing properties of cannabis since the 1970's.

As they say 'there's no profit in cure!'

Peck should try this - nothing to lose

Hello - after reading the post about 'peck should try this nothing to lose' I found myself skeptical about the claims.
I did some research; low and behold there are countless articles on the web that confirm the above statements.
I guess it makes sense that we haven't heard more about this - companies cannot patent a plant, therefore they cannot make money off of it.

Jamaica should be a leader of the medical cannabis initiative. Far too long have Jamaica bowed to the pressure of the USA and continued a senseless drug war policy.
Jamaica should be producing not only medical cannabis which is completely non-toxic, but industrial hemp for clothing, energy, food, and hundreds of other products & applications.
Look at South Korea - they have a thriving industrial hemp industry, exporting hemp clothing and hemp products around the world.
The hemp industry could be huge for Jamaica - HUGE.
Jamaica should big up itself and do what she knows is right - use her natural resources to benefit her people.

Like the all heal claims for aloe vera, any claims of healing that are unverified, may cloud the real benefits. Eventually the aloe growers started a Council to establish standards and encourage reasearch on its properties.

We never took up aloe succesfully when there was a freeze in the Rio Grande valley in the 80's that killed their crop.

What perfect timing to establish a crop that will benefit us all in so many ways. Hemp plantations and herb growing freely. Aloe and more too.

One greatgrandfather dispensed in Port Maria, he would have utilised tincture of cannabis for many ailments. He passed on the warning that: "One man's medicine, is anothers poison". Wonder if that is why some vilify the gifted plant.

I love your reasoning Reason. I just had a conversation last week with a friend about hemp production in Ja. It would be a great idea to couple that with marijuana for medical usage. The weed is legal in some western states in the USA, so why can't poor people grow it in Jamaica too?

Hemp seed butter, milled seeds and oil are available in supermarkets in British Columbia. Here is an article on organic hemp farming in Manitoba.
