Dear all, I am a German tourist from Berlin travelling to Jamaica from 18-25mar.
I want to stay in the Treasure Beach area and have the plan to visit the "town" of Berlin which is supposed to be somewhere in your part of the island
Berlin, Jamaica is one of many Berlins worldwide and I have the intention to visit all of them and write a report about my travellings.
If you have any information / contact details or alike for me, I'd be very thankful!
Cheers, Axel
I think Berlin is a district not too far from the little town of Southfield. I would suggest that when you come to Treasure Beach contact Mrs. Annie Moxam who operates Seaview Villa Resort. She is from Southfield and I understand she is very helpful to visitors with interest in that area. Her telephone number is (876)965-6068 or you can email her at seaviewvillaresort@yahoo.com. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi Axel:
Re: Berlin
Berlin in St. Elizabeth is more of a village than a town. It is adjoining to Corby which is very near to Bellevue. The village was named after Berlin property which I think was acquired in the late 1700-early 1800 by one Hyam who produced one daughter Lina. Lina lived on the property until 1969 and is buried at St. Mary's Anglican church. If you like information on Germans in Berlin you have to visit that property. Mr. Hyam owned slaves and the evidence is still there. You can still see the burial grounds and what has remained of the estate house. The view from that place is just spectacular I have to admit. One person who would be able to assist you with lots of information is Nurse Carvalho as she is part owner of that property and should have extensive knowledge of Berlin. Nurse Carvalho and her cousin Mr. Binns(Seaga)still reside in the area and should be able to take you on a hike of Berlin if you are interested. (Nurse Carvalho is well known in the Southfield area). For further info you can email me.
Dear all, thanks a lot so far for your replies! I will get into detailled planning this weekend and will contact you then. Thanks again! I look forward to coming to Jamaica more each day :-)
I had not heard of Berlin in St. Elizabeth until I read this thread. And just last night I met a young lady who told me she lives in Berlin, near to Southfield.

My apologies to the list for using the forum in this manner, but it seems my messages to Axel may not have gotten through.
