Something is happening here right now which prompted Debbian to say to me "The devil and his wife are fighting over mackerel head."

What's happening?

Is that when it's raining and the sun is still shining so the two are happening simultaneously. May be wrong but it sounds vaugely familiar. Takes me back a few years.

Since you are on the topic of rain and old time saying, I would like to see what others have to say about this one:

According to the old time people, what is happening when the rain is falling, the lightening flashes and there is the rolling of the thunder? What is going on up there in the skies? What does the sound remind you of?

There are different meaning to this occurrence.
Different saying from countries all over the world. What we call Folkloric or customs of a culture.
This is just a "Sunshower" and the reason there wasn't a rainbow is that the sun has to be at a certain angle for this to happen.

Enjoy. Make a wish when you do see a Rainbow.
