The Sandy Bank Primary School surprised Karen and Peter Kennedy on Friday morning. They were told to come to the school for a meeting and when they arrived they found the entire school body assembled in one room awaiting them. Three students accompanied by a drum sang and danced to a song written just for this occasion.

Here are the words to the song:

T.B.F. oh,thank you T.B.F.
T.B.F. oh,thank you T.B.F.

T.B.F work, T.B.F. share, TBF careT
T.B.F. help at Sandy Bank
T.B.F. oh, thank you TBF

Thank you T.B.F.for giving scholarship fund to Sandy Bank
T.B.F. oh, Thank you T.B.F.
T.B.F. oh, Thank you T.B.F.

Special thanks to Peter and Karen,
For initiating the scholarship fund for Sandy Bank
TBF oh, Thank you T.B.F.
TBF oh, Thank you T.B.F.

Be that neighbour that we know
Keep on promoting education
Making it possible for each and everyone
TBF oh, Thank you T.B.F.
TBF oh, Thank you T.B.F.

T for Treasure
B for Beach
F for Foundation
Thank you Treasure Beach Foundation

The principal, Miss Zane spoke on the great impact the scholarship program has made on the school.

Then Mrs. Parchment spoke on in all the years she has known the Kennedy's education was always very important to them. She remembered years ago Miss Karen saying how it was her dream to see more Billy's Bay children attending school on Fridays as Friday used to always see a low attendance in the school. She brought out a plaque which both her and Mrs. Kennedy admired over the years stating the importance of an education to a child. She then gave them a new plaque commemorating their significant contribution to education within this community.

It was a very moving ceremony and very well deserved accolades. Big up to Karen and Peter Kennedy with many many thanks!

A very well deserved award to the Kennedys. They have been helping out in Treasure Beach for more than 20 years. Much of what they do is never known by the community because they are not seeking any promotion for themselves. The results of their efforts can be seen throughout all of Treasure Beach, especially with the students.

You've shown us community tourism that works. Thanks Kennedy's. Hope to meet you both one day.

Best, turey.

What i like about what the kennedy's Treasure Beach Foundation does is they have one focus which is education and they do that one think to the best of their ability. They do not spread themselvs too thin so they do a little of this and a little of that. Better to do one thing well. I also like how they are able to involve members of the local community to offer things to raise funds when there is a villa raffle. That way a lot of people even from Treasure beach can participate so they are part of the over all effort.

I am proud of what I am reading on this site these days. Proud about what the Kennedys do with their Treasure Beach Foundation. Proud about what BREDS does with their many projects. Proud of the work being done by the TBWG. Proud of the many positive responses coming to support giving proper dignity to homosexuals.

Congratulations Karen and Peter. Truly you deserve this award and I am happy to be apart of this.Your contribution to education in this community began over twenty-four years ago. I can recall how passionate you were about the children of this community getting an education. This passion you turned into reality and many young lives have been blessed because of this. Thanks for giving hope to so many.

Mrs.Swaby and Mrs. Montique are members of staff at the Sandy Bank Primary.

We offer very belated but heartfelt thanks to the entire Sandy Bank Primary School community for this wonderful award. It was a total surprise.

We were equally surprised to see Miss Veron still had the plaque we had given her 24 years ago when she was starting out as a teacher. What it says is:

"A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank...but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child."

That saying makes me feel good because I drive an old car and don't have much money in the bank but my children are the most precious things in the world to me.
