Looks to me as though those doomed lovers are in Mexico!
Is Lover's Leap still closed? My husband and I wanted to visit this up coming week when we will be in the area. Is there a way we can still go see the cliff without going to this lookout point?

not surprised they had to close down... seen tourists (with my own eyes) shy away from going inside bec they were supposed to pay an entrance fee of 100 JAD (that is 1,20 US!!) or take a drink for 150 JAD (1,80 US !!). They thought it was a ripp off !!
What a shame that lovers leap is closed. I can remember back in 1978 as a young adventurous farm kid from Kansas, when I walked up right to the edge and took in the glorious view. As I stood there taking in the view a wonderful Jamaican man walked up to me and told me the history. When I took my wife there in 2000 and saw that they had built a "tourist attraction we didn't even bother to go in because I knew it would never be the same.
yeah, the franchisee got their fill and moved on.
Actually, the other way around Barry. Due to lack of business they had to shut down. When you lease a property you've gotta pay rent and if the business cannot bring in enough to pay the rent . . .
To Jeannieb, there is a path abutting the Lover's Leap land that you can walk down to see the view.
Thanks Rebecca. We will still go. Maybe for a picnic.
I have seen the restaurants at Lover's Leap open and close over the years. I am of the belief if the right person could lease the place it could become a profitable establishment. Some people open a place and do a little publicity and then hope people will continue to come. Things don't work that way. Operating a business requires continued work and on-going publicity.
