We are making our first visit to Treasure Beach in several weeks after prior trips to Negril. Do I need to convert my U.S. dollars to $J before we get there? We could always use $US in Negril but don't know about TB? Thanks.

Most restaurants and accommodations accept US, however, the local bars and small shops prefer JA. You can exchange some at any Cambio along the way here or there are places to exchange money once you arrive in TB.

Yes there are places to change money in TB, but please be advise that is no BANK in TB. If you need a bank, you will have to go to Black River.

There is an ATM in Treasure Beach and one in Black River. Most places will accept credit cards and US>

I have used travelers checks at Sunset Resort and at Jakes with no problem in the past.

That's because they're good sized places and must keep a lot of cash on hand. A word to the wise--know what the exchange rates are to be before changing your money. Something that sound like a good deal might not turn out that way after you learn the facts. Why not exchange what tou want in MoBay and then keep your money in your room safe.
