Early this morning. Comparatively small, extensively damaging the staff room mainly, resulting in loss of some pieces of equipment and student records.
I say "comparatively small" because it could have been much worse.
Time to advance the plan to establish some 21st century buildings, while retaining the absolutely beautiful 19th century structures for aesthetic and heritage purposes.
This is the second staff room that got burned down. I don't think Mr Leach is still there so it must be someone else that left the coffee pot on. Sorry about that jab at good old Mr. Leach (or was it Mr. Harle), it was just a rumor back in the late 60's when the first staff room got burnt down. I will support my "in arce sitam quis, occultabit".
During the 20th Century, I saw no succesful marriages between 18th/19th century architecture and designs then current. Great Houses with concrete cottages nearby, stately stone bulidings sharing space with grey solar heated cubes fed with straggling wires and expensive cooled air.
I hope any new buldings at Munro will compliment the old heritage.
Could it have been a space heater that caused this to happen. It is cold here in Florida so I know that part of Jamaica is very chilly also.
I know the buildings are very old but I would think they would have periodic "Safety" check-up on those Campuses seeing they house so many students and staffs.
Good luck and be safe.
old buildings are not be blamed here. a new building would have caught fire the same.
hope they can restore the staff room, looks unlikely.
love that school and everything about it to mi heart.
it pierced my hear when i saw the damage.

Any word on what happened to the Dive?
Eric I am gonna assume here that the Dive is the Bar that was down stairs. I have not heard anything about it. Maybe the "spirit" of Mr.Harle(R.I.P) saved the contents.LOL.
Seriously though maybe you would have better inside info on what happened to it.
I will seek out more info now that you mentioned it.
