The Irie Safari was founded in 1993 by Lloyd Linton a wetland biologist educated in Jamaica and the USA. He was part of a team that did the baseline ecological study of the Black River Lower Morass in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica for an EIA in the Peat Resources Utilization Project.

Through the Lost River Kayak Adventure Tours, Irie Safari offers finger-skimming proximity to the Black River Lower Morass, described as "the largest remaining natural wetland in the English speaking Caribbean and has five major tributary rivers flowing into the main Black River.

One of these rivers has been cut off from the main channel for many decades and its only accessed through narrow vine covered channels.

This lost river has had very little if any motorized boat traffic for a long time and lies in the heart of the Lower morass."

Their kayaks are "monitored by GPS locators"...even if swallowed!!

We've just heard of this this past week and intend on checking them out. We'll let you know what we find and look forward to adding them to the list of local tours offered.

Is this the same Lloyd Linton who went to Black River Primary School where his late mother was also a teacher?
