Treasure Beach Forum: TB Runnin's: Canal Draining????

Curious to know if the over-priced and unfinished canal in Treasure Beach (beside Mar Blu) is doing the job it is meant to do? That is, are the houses in Great Bay flooded once again or are any other houses in the Treasure Beach area flooded?

Thoughts are with you all and hope the rains are now over.

Is the canal draining the pond? Is the water staying IN the canal?

Canal still not finished and is not doing the job it was designed for. Residents already being flooded out and more likely to follow.

Has anyone alerted the official "powers that be" to come and see how the canal is or is not draining the pond,
or taken pictures or videos to show?

The canal is draining the pond. I spoke with Keith yesterday and he said the water was just starting to come into his house.

I drove as far as I could get in Great Bay yesterday afternoon as the road was flooded. I heard you could pass through but I felt my car had enough water for the day so I didn't want to push it. What worried me was the amount of water still rushing down the road and into the ponds. The two ponds were already one.

Photos shortly.

First let me saw welcome home Rebecca.
You made it home safely and right away you put yourself out there to bring us these pictures.

Please keep safe as you go on this mission.

Thank God no one went missing or died from and around Tb. My heart goes out to The families of Mr Blake from Flagaman and to all the families that has lost lives in other parts of the Island.

We were lucky here in Florida where I live we had no damages what-so-ever.

Now this Storm is causing so much flooding all along the Northern East Coast, all the way to Maine.

I'm presently looking at the Infrared Satellite for the Caribbean and it looks so much better.
Seems as if you will be having some sunny days ahead. Make the best of them and prepare just in-case.

Remember my Posting I had submitted I think in August.
Thank God this was not a Hurricane.

God Bless you all,
Murnel Ebanks.

Oh look!! Another meeting and more lip service about the canal. Wheeee....

Anyway, it is draining but it is also pouring mud and debris into the sea.

This is too disgusting for words. If I write how I am feeling it will not get printed here. This is THE most important thing affecting Treasure Beach and it is being ignored by the government. They say do not have enough money to correct the situation and that might be true. Look at all they WASTED on it. Everyone connected with that hideous thing should hide their head in shame. If I had the ability I would fire every one of them.

to canal, yes and that is the bad side-pouring mud without end in the reef, because the canal is not finished-and will not-because to concrete this thing will cost a fortune-another twenty million or so,and the canal is open to the sea,a storm surge will press the water and sea-water back to the ponds, what i can see,a lot of houses are under water, with or without canal, sure it is not properly built, looks like to high, and to change this is not possible,or you built new bridges,so whats to do???bring the mud in buckets to the NWA,that they have something in the offices?

The canal draining such a great amount of fresh water into the sea will kill the natural sealife/reefs and cause imbalance to an already fragile system.

How is it that the Gov. agency can be so stupid?

WHERE is Christopher Tufton?

Hi Rebecca,
Sorry if I got your hopes up too soon, but it will get better next week.

They are not showing any more Tropical Storms on the horizon.
Rain maybe but nothing like you just experienced.

I know everyone will enjoy the sunshine when it comes, but mostly the residents whose homes were flooded.

This is not just for Jamaica but for some parts of Florida and those folks in the North East who are getting pounded with the remnants of Nicole as I write.

We had a beautiful sunny- blue -sky- day today and things are looking very good for the next few days.
Do not despair you will be having yours soon.

Bye for now.

Nero fiddles while Rome "drowns". Talk talk talk and more talk. Gotta love it folks. Lets keep talking. And oh, one more thing, don't forget to vote each election, as we all know how responsive our beloved politicians are!

We have debated this subject over and over and it just seems no one cares from the Ministry of you know what.
[edited by TB.Net] If only we could take up a collection here, there and everywhere people from Treasure Beach resides and do it ourselves.
Good Luck Anyway.
