On Saturday evening July 31, students of the seventh Annual Summer Arts Workshop – Camp
entertained family and friends with a program featuring dance, skits and song.
In addition, artwork created by the students was
on display at the Treasure Beach Women's Group Center where the event was held.
Our dance teacher seventeen year old Kimyanna Brown taught Hip – Hop routines to the girls.
Her cheerful enthusiasm spurred the students to give a stellar performance. While the girls were
practicing dance. Her father coached the boys in football taking them to the Sports Complex daily hone up their playing skills.
He produced a video which was played at intermission to give the audience a glimpse of the boy’s competence at the sport.
The Students themselves wrote, produced and directed two “mini” plays with very little assistance from adults. The results were spectacularly successful. Mrs. Fern Luekie, folklorist and actress led the students in a medly of Jamaican folk songs, to round out the evening. We were also treated to a few numbers by community members.
All in all the evening a dazzling success. At the end of the program, a student, Rochelle Nelson shared her thoughts about the camp by reading an unsolicited piece that she wrote her about her experience the summer.

Women’s Group 2010 Camp by Rochelle Nelson
The Women’s Group Camp has been an inspiration to me and the others. We enjoyed ourselves doing the many different activities planned such as making clay pots jewelry boxes among other ideas using clay. We drew, danced made bags and necklaces. We also enjoyed the many outdoor activities.
I personally enjoyed meeting new friends. A special thank you to Ms. Fern for vibesing up the folk songs. Thank you to our dance teacher Kim. I had a great time. Thank you to Mike for coaching the boys in football. Thank you Brittany and Caroline for coming to Jamaica and helping us at camp. Thanks to the other who volunteered at the camp.
This year Women’s Group camp 2010 will be one that will forever embedded in my mind. Thank you to all the Women’s Group members especially Mrs. Jeanne Genus for a Wonderful summer

That sounds just wonderful. I'm so sorry I miss the performance as I am always impressed each year with the talent coming out of this summer camp.
