Redditch in Worcestershire, England has full twinning links with St. Elizabeth. This formal link dates back to 1990 when the status was Friendship link. On the 24th April 2006 it was raised to the level of a "Full Twinning". This link is supported by Redditch Borough Council.

It must be noted that although the link dates back to 1990- no formal links were made between Redditch and St Elizabeth.

The majority of the people residing in Redditch comes from St.Elizabeth. There is a lot of returnees such as the Berlins,Mcleans, Williams, Chins, Parchments, Fosters, Garwoods, Mullings from Flagaman and Southfield and other districts.

Caribbean Roots Connection a voluntary organisation in Redditch and is the support organisation for this link. The Chair person is Veronica Berlin- Allen (formerly from Southfield)

This is part of our history which need to be acted upon and passed down to the younger generations to educate them about the legacy of their grandparents who went to England and resided in Redditch from the early 50's.'

We will be looking for support from all the St. Elizabethians in the UK and Jamaica to advise us
how to take this project forward to benefit the parish.i.e. links with schools etc.

To find out more about Redditch- google Redditch in Worcestershire UK.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards

Veronica Berlin- Allen

This twining seems to have the potential for mutual benefits for all concern.Congratulation is in order for the people that have made this possible. It would be good if this relationship could blossom that schools could benefit from assistance with some of their programs that need help. For example, I am aware that Newell High School has many talented young athletes but the school finds it difficult to provide the necessary equipment for some of their programs.

Best wishes.

'The majority of the people residing in Redditch come from St Elizabeth'. Surely that's a mistake.

That's not a mistake is a fact or should I say majority of the black people residing in Redditch comes from St. Elizabeth.

Hence the reason for this twinning link.
