Our Board of Directors is meeting tomorrow, and I just completed the budget estimate for sending our scholarship students to school for the upcoming year.

The total comes to more than $3,000,000 for just one year.

Isn’t it interesting that school is considered “free” in Jamaica?

If you have it in your heart (and wallet) to make a one-time donation, or you can spare a little bit each month for an ongoing donation, please go to www.treasurebeachfoundation.org and make a tax-deductible contribution. Click on the Donate Now button, and you’ll be directed to a secure site.

Thank you for caring.

That amount covers 19 students. Plus, to assist the community at large, we use additional funds for several different programs in the schools in Treasure Beach. More information is published in our occasional newsletter. If you would like to subscribe, click the link and send us an email telling us that, and we'll be glad to put you on our mailing list. Continue to be impressed by the work Treasure Beach Foundation does in the community. They have a clear focus on education and put their money where their mouth is.

Thank God for people who cares, i think for a student to receive some scholarship their grade has to exceede 70%, most of these students has to do extra lesson and sometimes private lesson (one on one). Does the students who have the potential, but might not have the money to do extra lessons, is there any help for those students. Sometimes these students are not even able to go on to high school, because of lack of funds.

I think there is some misunderstanding about how the scholarships are awarded. From what I have heard, it takes well more than a 70% average at Sandy Bank to GET a scholarship. The 70% has to do with KEEPING a scholarship after one is received, and that grade needs to come from the high school.

Clarification, notice what parent said, the grade has to exceede 70% for the student to receive any scholarship.
