I had a few questions about accommodations and medical care.
I am going to need knee replacement surgery in the relatively near future, and I would much rather spend my months of recuperation time in Treasure Beach than cooped up in my tiny apartment here at home. I would need to be under a doctor's supervision during that time, however, and would need to be able to see a doctor at least once every 3-4 weeks and then start physical therapy after the first month.
Does anyone know how (or if) I could arrange to work with a doctor in JA during my recovery and what the fees might be? Is there anyone in the TB area who I could work with for my physical therapy so that I wouldn't have to go into Black River (or further) every week?
Also, I'd need a long-term rental that doesn't have lots of stairs (or any stairs?) and that has easy access to the road. Any ideas for a location?
My doctor here is open to letting me try to find a way to make his work, but he would need to have regular communication with anyone I'd be working with in JA.
Any help you can offer would me most welcome.
Irie Rest has a first floor room. I do not know if he usually rents it but it is right off the veranda (so you could easily get to the veranda for meals and to chill)
Shakespeare Cottage has a little cottage out back that only has a couple of steps. I think the have some other rooms with no steps.
I think Joshua Stein is a physical therapist. He also gives excellent massages. He comes to you so you would not need to travel. There are several physicians in the TB area; some are better than others. Though it may be a matter of opinion, I would ask for opinions.
Please contact me at booking@2seasonsguesthouse.com to arrange for long term rental and to see how I could assist in putting you in contact with the various services that you may need. I am the proprietor of Two Seasons Guest House
Thanks for these answers. Christine, I may be contacting you after I've talked some more with my doctor, and I'll definitely check out Irie Rest. I've had several massages from Joshua and think he's fantastic. If he's also a physical therapist, that might just make my decision for me!
Any additional suggestions are still welcome. My surgery is probably about a year off, but I'm trying to figure out how to make arrangements now so I know how much money I need to be saving for recuperation time.
Thanks!
We have a beach house available, with a lot of steps, you can contact me at modestatorresbaker@yahoo.com
Thanks for the offer, mpma, but "a lot of steps" is exactly what I wouldn't need during my recuperation.
I, too, am eventually going to need knee replacement (I'm probably going to need to have both knees done), and I had been thinking how wonderful it would be to spend my recovery time in TB. How great that someone else asked the question so I now have some info to share with my doctor (who isn't -- yet -- so excited about the idea of me going out of the country to recuperate)!
Thanks, "knee replacement," for getting me thinking about how I could make this work! Maybe this will be a new boom industry for TB -- all the knee surgery folks who want a quiet, peaceful time to heal!
To healthcare questions/knee replacement and Stacie
Last year July you both had expressed interest in recuperating from knee surgery in Treasure Beach.
Just checking to see if this is still in your plans and whether we can be of service to you in terms of your accommodation and other needs.
You may contact me at info@2seasonsguesthouse.com if you wish to discuss further.
