My friend Westin came over today and had me laughing hysterically when he told me of his friend Junior's new drink, "Come pon mi an' whine".

What's in it? 1 part Compari and 1 part any kind of wine. He said the best part of this drink is ordering it!

What's your favorite named drink?

Start with cream rum on the rocks. dd some butterscotch schnapps and you have a Slippery Nipple. Tastes like delicious candy.

When I saw the vodka and Schweppes Tonic Water I knew it was Rebecca, very predictable of the lovely lady.

Now my favorite drink is a slow, comfortable, screw against the wall.

Equal parts of slow gin, southern comfort, vodka, Galliano and Orange juice. One or Two is all I can handle at my age.

Lillian, one or two of those drinks are plenty for anyone to handle at any age unless the equal parts each measure a thimble. This drink is reminiscent of Long Island iced tea. Goes down easy until you pass out.

I think that is "sloe" gin

Brandy, you are right, it is sloe gin. Made, if anyone wants to know, by steeping sloe berries in ordinary gin and sugar for 6 months plus. In England it is a typical tipple on cold winter days when out hunting to hounds or, on a pheasant shoot - what North America calls "hunting"

I am glad you all seem to like the drink and yes you are right it is sloe gin. Now the Hot Chocolate and Pepermint Schnaps is one I will brew up at Christmas Time. Does it have a name?

Depends on who you ask. A few years ago in Negril I asked at a european owned bar for a screwdriver and was told they didn't have one, would a hammer do.

Van, that's priceless amd I don't doubt for a moment.

A few years ago I worked on an alcohol and drug research project for the University of West Indies. I had to travel to different communities throughout Jamaica and intervew participants on their attitutes towards alcohol, ganga and other drugs. I interviewed this one youth up in the mountaints at 10:00 a.m. I asked him "do you have any problems with alcohol?"

The youth thought for a moment and pulled out an empty pint of white rum from his pocket and stated, "drank it from first this morning, no problem"!

I just love Jamaica.

Okay, my new drink is fresh squeezed mango juice with Tia Maria! Yummmm.

I've been squeezing the juice from common mangoes this year and the juice is just as sweet as it can be. My favorite way is the juice well chilled and straight up, but if alcohol goes in it, Tia Maria tastes great!

I gave some fresh squeezed mango juice to Silvan today and he said it was perfect the way it was and needed nothing added to it! I have to agree.

Good one Van. I think the hammer is made by Ray and Nephew.
