been to STRIKIE J in Billy´s Bay last night and want to recommend. Strikie cooks great food, also recommended for vegetarians, cause his vegies are really nice and crunchy....
It is worth the ride to Billy´s Bay and Strikie deserves some recommendation....enjoy

I don't know Chris' cooking. I'm sure he's a wonderful cook. I'm sad to see this dismissal of every other cook in the area, however. Even if every cookshop prepared the same dish, I'm willing to bet no two would be the same ... and many, if not all, would be excellent. Do we have to make everyone else sound bad just to make one person sound good? That doesn't seem right.

Is that Chris - cooked at Jakes long time ago (10 years or so)? I used to call him Chris the dancehall cook because he played dancehall music and danced while he cooked. Same Chris? If so, great cook and will look forward to his restaurant next time we are in TB. How far from Villa Arcadia?

Unless you are going to serve Gourmet Food like the Five Star Restaurants then of course all the Food Shops/Eatery around are going to serve the same food, that is what Jamaicans eat and it is delicious food.

Fry fish and bammy with pear/avocado
Johnny cake with salt fish and ackee or calaloo
Curry goat with white rice and a salad or steam veggies.
Oxtail with rice and peas
Fry chicken with rice and peas
Beef soup, fish soup, chicken soup, red bean soup some made with dumpling/spinners, yam, pumpkin, sweet potato, breadfruit,
irish potato, cho-cho,carrots,turnip, coco and of course all the fresh seasonings/herbs
WHAT IS BETTER THAN THAT.
How good did I do?

nobody makes anybody else sound bad just because he/she recommends someone... why can´t one just post an innocent recomendation without this sort of attack.
I simply love the food there and that is wha me say... notting else
@A who that: you are SO RIGHT with the same old... same old...doesn´t mean that I don´t like it, but I go for the change that Strikie J makes

To olala: I don't think my post was an attack. My point to "A who that" was simply that he or she could big up Chris without having to say that other TB cooks "hardly try something." The comment that other cooks "stick to the same old menu" sounded like a put down of both the menu and the cooks who choose to stick with that menu.

As I said in my comment, I'm sure Chris is a wonderful cook. All the supportive comments here definitely confirm that. I was only saying that we can praise one without putting down another. I didn't see that as an attack on "A who that" on Chris or anyone else.

Haven't seen Oxtail on the Frenchman's menus. I'd welcome it. And patties.

Sticking to the "same old" menu doesn't have be a negative. It shows that Treasurebeach has a strong culture which includes food and it has been passed down from generation to generation. And I myself am deeply in love with the "same old" food. :-)
