Calabash International Literary Festival, Treasure Beach, Jamaica
PEACE•LOVE: 28 May 2010 - 30 May 2010

TO JUSTINE & THE ORGANIZERS:
With barely 2 months before the Big Event, we feel certain that you have most of the Talent already booked, although, perhaps, not quite ready for scheduling.

Without letting too much out of the bag, would you "pretty please" reveal some of the "name" authors & musicians, whom the casual reader of Caribbean & World Literature would recognize, as an incitement to book our reservations early & OFTEN, if our favourites will be in attendance.

THE EVENT:
The only international literary festival in the English-speaking Caribbean, Calabash was founded in 2001 by novelist Colin Channer (Artistic Director); Kwame Dawes (Programming Director); Justine Henzell (Production Director) & others.
Over 30 authors feature at the festival and, together with musicians from around the world, they fill the festival agenda with readings, discussions and musical events.
Calabash is 'earthy, inspirational, daring and diverse'. Its aims are to establish a world-class literary festival, with its roots in Jamaica and branches reaching out into the wider world.

PURPOSE:
The mission of the Calabash International Literary Festival Trust is to transform the literary arts in the Caribbean by being the region's best-managed producer of workshops, seminars and performances.
We will achieve these goals by focusing on our audiences, managing our budget, creating a community of supporters in the media, government, business, the performing arts, philanthropic organizations and publishing, and by becoming the festival of choice for the world's most gifted authors.
