We are finally publishing an occasional newsletter telling a bit about what we've been doing--complete with photos. If you'd like to receive a copy, please hit the link and send us an e-mail. Please be sure to include your full name and postal mailing address too. If you are not sure if you're already on our mailing list, send us that e-mail. Or if any of your information has changed, go ahead and tell us.
No, the newsletter will not be published here. That's another reason to be sure we have your information.
Sounds like a great idea but could you tell a little about the Foundation? Also where will the newsletter be published?
Treasure Beach Foundation provides opportunities to the people of Treasure Beach.
Concentrating on educational needs, we award competitive scholarships to students for their seven years of high school. (One year of public high school for a Treasure Beach student costs roughly $2,000 U.S. per student—meaning some $14,000 to get through high school, a huge obstacle for most families.) To date, we have provided scholarships for 22 students; some are now in their 4th year of high school. We will be selecting even more students to receive scholarships toward the end of June.
We also provide learning materials for the elementary school and pre-school in Treasure Beach.
And we assisted the community with materials to repair and rebuild after the major devastation caused by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and Hurricane Dean in 2007.
Our primary sources of fundraising are from proceeds of our annual villa raffle, donations from individuals, and corporate grants. No one on either our Board of Directors or Board of Advisors is paid; all their work is done on a voluntary basis.
Because we are a U.S.-based nonprofit that has achieved 501 (c) 3 status, all donations made to us by U.S. residents are deductible to the full extent of the law.
For more information, please see www.TreasureBeachFoundation.org.
The newsletter will be sent to people by e-mail. It will not be "published." This is why we are asking all those interested in Treasure Beach to sign up for it.
I hit the link and nothing happened.
I hit the link and it started an email message. I added something - forget what - as a subject and then my name and address and hit send and it went. I think that's all you have to do.
Sorry for any confusion.
Please hit on the link in the top of the message.
This will allow you to send us an e-mail. Then, exactly as "2 Nuttin'" said, go ahead and finish the e-mail. Add a subject line saying "Newsletter" or something similar. Then, in the body of the e-mail, please write your name and your postal mailing address. Then hit send, and we will receive your request and add you to the distribution list.
Looking forward to this newsletter. Hope it has photos.
Can't wait to see the newsletter! Looking forward to seeing what the foundation has been doing for the kids of treasure beach.
Got mine. It is GREAT. I guess those who didn't sign up can do so for the next issue. True?
THIS MADE MY DAY. Wonderful newsletter. Wonderful photo of the kids. Keep up the good work Treasure Beach Foundation.
Thanks for asking.
We're going to do a second mailing of the newsletter to those who were not able to sign up in time. We admit we didn't give people much notice, so anyone who sends us the correct information by Monday morning will receive the first issue.
Often high production values hide low accomplishments. That's NOT the case with TBF. Great newsletter (it promotes TB kids, not just itself)from a great, unselfish, really solid program.
Reading this newsletter was a great way to start my day. Glad I didn't have to be at work early because I wanted to savor every word.
Thanks Treasure Beach Foundation. You do good work.
Hey, Karen.
First, good job on the newsletter. Looks really good and as others have said has a nice vibe about it.
Second, is it linked on your site somewhere? Or is it only available as an email to those who sign up?
Thanks for the compliment, Eric.
The newsletter isn't linked to our website yet. It will be at some point, but I can't tell you when. Everyone who works on our materials is employed full-time; because they help us out by contributing their services in their spare time, our deadlines tend to be somewhat "flexible."
So for now, the safest thing is for people to sign up to receive the newsletter.
Congratulation Treasure Beach Foundation; great newsletter!
Appreciate you starting this newsletter. Extremely interesting. A lot of good information. This is all very helpful.
Another happy reader here. Wish they had started a newsletter long ago though I know something like this is more difficult to produce than it might appear. This is very informative.
Dear Picture Pig,
Get a newsletter. You'll enjoy the pictures.
Yours truly,
Someone who likes pictures too
Great suggestion. I signed up.
