Am not trying to say anything bad about the ambulance service. I know it is better than nothing. I do not understand why a cheap cell phone has not been purchased because we all know the land lines go down alot. Thats all.

To Do Not Understand, I'm sure they would be very grateful for your donation of a cell phone. Just contact BREDS to arrange this.

BREDS got JA$1,300,000 from Marblue, TankWeld and Jakes. That should leave a little xtra so they don't need to beg a phone.

That money was donated towards the Sports Park not the Ambulance fund. These are two different entities and monies are kept separate.

Two accounts - two different purposes. Makes sense. Based on what you are saying Miss Rebecca I have reached MY own conclusion. It is BREDS finds the Sports Perk more important than a back-up way to reach the ambulance if the land line is not working. I do not think THAT makes sense.

Here we go again. The ambulance is in the shop. It's out of the shop. They might get a new ambulance. They might not. The phone number for the ambulance will get answered if the phone is working. Doesn't sound too reliable to me but since it's a free service I guess I shouldn't complain.

As someone who have seen the benefit of the Ambulance in the community, I believe that some of us are too ungrateful. It is time we put our money to work for us. In other words why not just stop the talking and just buy a simple cell phone if you believe it is necessary.
I believe if you want a top of the line Ambulance service then the members of the community will have to start contributing to this.
Afterall, just talking will not make things better.

Agree with Reality. Members of the community should pitch in toward the ambulance service and provide the money for a simple cell phone. It is time contributions were solicited from those who depend on the service.

Have you all forgotten that Treasure Beach is in Jamaica, a struggling country.
Not to say that other countries are not struggling....but
It is not the U.S., or Canada or anywhere in Europe - so tell me why you expect services to be the same as they are in your home or adopted countries.

Reality
I agree with you if the people who visit Treasure Beach are unhappy with the service then they should stop chatting and do something, ie buy a cell phone for the ambulance
see here: http://www.digiceljamaica.com/en/phones/phones_list.php?&page_number=2
go on and don't be shy there is a phone there for less than 2,000 JA buy it and stop your chatting

People i heard that most of the volunteers are stepping out because people are being to ungreatful, they are trying to help the community and the people of treasure beach and thats is the thanks they are getting. How many of us would voluteer our service and to back that up all they get is people chatting away like they are working for money they are just helping why cant some of us see that and stop the backbiting. Now if they stop volunteer their service how would people of treasure beach who cant afford to charter private transport servive come on give them some credit. I cant blame them if they refuse to step down now think about this and do let gossiping.

I am disturbed by Greatful Citizens' report of volunteers leaving. Since it is clearly a rumor -- "I heard..." -- I went to the Breds Foundation website only to discover it is still under construction.

So I don't see anything in this thread that accuses volunteers of anything, and I'm going to continue to believe that they have more integrity than to quit volunteering over this discussion, and that indeed the volunteers would be glad if someone bought a cellphone for the Ambulance project and provided funds for ambulance repair and all that good stuff that would make their work easier.

Most of us who work with volunteer organizations know that it's the organization that provides "volunteer appreciation day" and such, because those who benefit from the service don't always express that. I'm not living in TB, but from far I want to say that I wish the community I am connected with had such a service, and I appreciate the sacrifice of time and energy that volunteers make to serve their fellow humans. What you give will come back to you ten-fold, just not always in the form you expect!

onelove...

I wish our folks would just stop the gibbering and think positively. What's the fuss about-just do your part and buy a cell phone or lobby for one for the response unit. Let's be appreciative for what we have and what we are receiving. The organizations in Treasure Beach cannot do everything; they are trying their best to uplift our community. Please think about where we are coming from. Thanks to Rebecca and Eric for being so patient-you are like Job. I don't know how they cope. God bless you both.

TREASURE BEACH PEOPLE......[edited by TB.Net]. DO A COMMUNITY COLLECTION AND GET "THE CELL PHONE"
IT SEEMS AS IF SOME OF YOU ARE ALWAYS DEPENDING ON THE ESTABLISHMENTS IN YOUR DISTRICT TO FOOT ALL THE BILLS.
YOU ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UP-KEEP OF THAT AMBULANCE.
COME ON NOW, DO YOUR SHARE AND STOP THE EVERLASTING COMPLAINING..YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY YOU HAVE AN AMBULANCE SERVICE.

Would it be feasible to raise money for the cell phone by a raffle, or a 50/50 draw.. maybe held at the Christmas tree lighting ?
