With all the changes that been happening in Treasure Beach along with all the future proposals and so called development,i think we got to change the name because it wont be the same anymore, you wont have the quality of life we used to enjoy.
These small scale developments only going to get bigger until things get out of proportion ,when people arm themselves with greed and power there is no limitation .
Then Great Bay may have to suceed from the Union.
The last of Livity?
We fi decide.
woa, I just returned from spending 2 months there and it was my 4th trip since January 07, it seems just as "Treasureish" to me...you experience what you are looking for, you must be playing that game "spot the differences"!! If ppl are really concerned about the developments and changes to Treasure Beach they really should organize themselves and begin the discussions on what are the priorities of your community...make sure everyone is fairly represented and all are respectful of each others opinions...those with special interests (i.e. business ppl, organizations, etc) need to come to the table with their hats off so the priorities that are being set are unbiased and are intended for the betterment of the whole community...it is a daunting task, but doable if the ppl come with open minds and respectful attitudes. This is my area of expertise, I can volunteer facilitating this process, just need ppl to come together and commit to it. Contact me at donnakisoun@yahoo.ca
Very powerful, Donna. You've hit the nail on the head.It would be good to get some feed back from the people in the community there.
The diaspora also need to be heard from. Also heads of the many NGOs. We need all interested groups represented. No one will agree on everything, but in a democracy people have differing viewpoints and manage to sort them out. You win some and you lose some, but all have an opportunity to be heard. My guess is there will be more agreement than people now suspect. The point would be to work together for the betterment of the communty as a whole.
Is there a villa owners association? If not seems there should be one; there are 40+ rental villas in TB.
Calm sleepy fishing village ,laid back, serene and tranquil these are some of the many words that magazine and visitors used to describe Treasure Beach ,with all the propose development that is on the agenda if all of these development materialize it will certianly change all of the above description of Treasure Beach ,maybe from a fishing village to a town .I understand that we need ecomomic development which will create jobs for the community but we need a balance and a zoning law where can have low scale development .
Not sure we can have zoning laws but we could certainly have strong SUGGESTIONS about what the community feels is acceptable and what oversteps the bounds. Then if someone decides to go against the wishes of the community they may find they are not quite as welcome as someone who shows respect.

I vote YES!
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Hey farmer farmer
Put away the D.D.T. now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
I hope that it does not come to that Mrs. R.
We are sensible people and know that unity is strength.
Just that we forget sometimes.
Kewl, I like it that this stream is getting some hits and comments...keep it up...I can come in with an open mind and broad perspective, those that are local stakeholders can come with their local knowledge and ideas...when the time comes, see you there. donnakisoun@yahoo.ca
[edited by TBNet...rumors/speculation are not accepted]
(By Humor tuesday 12\8\09)the above posting that got TBNET disapproval was never created to be rumors\speculation but was suppose to be humorous ,anyway the goodness that you has done for the treasure beach community has over shadow any disagreement we may have and i want to THANK you for that,so no hard feeling.
Brick by brick, wall by wall the image of treasure beach is slowly changing ,when money talk the poor walk and when the outdoers start to compete against each other there will be no stopping so maybe we should start an treasure beach archive.hold the fort great bay for as long as you can.
Whole heap of bad duppy and good people are in protection mode Cow Pen. Many are short of cash but there is no poverty. We are keepers of a great Treasure in Great Bay. As are all Jamaicans. It is just so plain to see in our Bluff sheltered haven.
Please keep reminding, temptation comes to us all.
It's not the bricks, it's how and why they are laid.
