We really LOVE the villa we have stayed at for the past three years. But this year the budget has changed. Would it be rude to offer a lower rate? It would be about 40.00us less a night.
We know we can find nice places in the budget price, but we really enjoy the staff and house. And we feel a little guilty about going some place else. The worst they can do is say NO! What do you think? I value all your opinions.

I asked this at my hotel, and they gladly said yes. They really like and appreciate return guests. I just keep what I am paying them to myself and do not share my 'special rate' with anyone.

Similar thing happened when I went on my last trip to TB. When I stopped in to see the staff at my favorite place they said "Why aren't you staying here"? and I told them I just couldn't afford it this trip. They said I should have called and told them that - they would have worked something out!!! So I say - ASK!!! What is the worst that could happen???? An empty villa makes them nothing and I am sure a villa full of visitors who they enjoy is worth more than you know Happy travels Jim and Donna

I do it all the time...as long as your offer is fair, they will consider it and probably accept it. I have never had a problem doing this. Hotels and Guest Houses want to keep their returning guests.

Go ahead and ask. You are right. The worst they can say is no. I would not try this for any times which are likely to be booked at full price such as Christmas, Easter or Calabash. I might not also ask for any additional "dispensations" such as arriving on a day other than the normal day but go ahead and try. One thing is I would tip people the same as if you were paying the regular price.

Some guests planning a return trip to Hikaru ask, and we try to oblige, especially if it's not a prime week. No harm in asking.

Depending on where it is and how well I know the owners/managers I will either ask "what kind of deal can they give me?" or " I will tell them my budget limit and ask if they can accomodate me". At first I was like you and thought it might be rude, but I have found throughout my travels that it not only accepted but if you are a return guest usually granted.
