Just look at that. Thanks Harpomarc. On second thought, I don't know what I'd do if I ever saw a bird like that over Great Pond!

Harpo you've done it again! Brilliant!
I would say the bird is our good old friend the john crow who, incidentally, absolutely hates water! How did you get the white primary feathers?

This bird was just hovering over our deck on the trade winds and the sun was backlighting its wings. I just caught it at the right moment which is typical of nature photography. Of course this was the one good shot of about 10 shots that didn't work.
Once again I tried to put together the ying and yang surrealism into a good composition. Foregoing the art philosophy I just like to create "eye candy" for everyone's enjoyment.
I like to get up with the sun and go for a 4-5 mile walk while it's still cool. I have found that nature, the air. the sun, and the people are nice and refreshed and active at this time thus providing me with great photo opportunities.
And yes my nickname for my nickname is Harpo (thats a whole other story). Thank you Uncle Peter.
Harpo

Great photography, or trick photo, how could a bird hover so close to the surface without creating so much as a ripple on the mirror surface of the pond, it defys the laws of physics

just like the 60s moon pictures

That's why I said it was a composite. I use photoshop to combine various pictures I have taken over the years to compose images that convey some of the magic that is Treasure Beach and Jamaica. I am not trying to trick anyone but trying to give some eye candy to enjoy. I am currently working on some other composites for everyone to enjoy. I have always tried to put something into my art that gives one pause to think. I guess it worked.

I hope this doesn't disappoint you.

Just out of curiousity Harpomarc: I see some pencil-like marks to the right of the bird (to the viewer's left, just above the reflection of the wing). They seem like a math formula. I'm not well versed with photoshop, so could you explain that? Thanks for sharing.

A belated oops! I didn't see these objects until after I posted this image. These are actually ducks and give a true perspective of the size of Great Pond and how I played with it for effect. I have since cleaned it up. Good eye. Thanks.

Harpo

By the way, I am always open to critique. It makes me a better artist.
