I needed a quiet, slow, beautiful place to rest, unfold, release. I got it!!! Friendly people, pretty birds, vivid colors from the mountains to the sea, sounds, cocks crowing, cow mooing, sheep maaaing and waves crashing. And wonderful food at the Frenchman! I felt comfortable. And I could go on!!!! Melody, USA

TB is the only place that has the old school Jamaican spirit where we care for one another, nothing is ever too much or too big to manage once its for a fellow Jamaican, i don't have kids yet but if i ever do i would die a happy man knowing my kids could experience such a place as this......love you treasure beach......

Treasure Beach is a small part of a whole and whilst I agree with many of the sentiments expressed on this forum thankfully there are still many other off the beaten track places in Jamaica with that 'old school Jamaican spirit'. As a community Treasure Beach is not unique, the difference is that it is being promoted as such by the people who have fallen in love with it, for a host of reasons. I have found my own paradise and yes it is in Jamaica and I am making my own plans to move there - can't wait!

Hi I am going to Jamaica on the 29th of this month. I am already in love with Treasure Beach and I haven't even been yet. I am going for 15 days but I also want to see Negril, Black river, Kingston...etc. We are on a tied budget so I need to manage time and money well. How many days out of 15 would you spend in treasure Beach? Thanks to all responses!

I would spend all my days in Treasure Beach. :-)

Seriously though...
I think 3-4 days would be sufficient time in Negril. Enough time to see the sights. Negril is too busy and crowded for me. IMO Treasure Beach is one of the least exspensive areas I have found in JA and the most friendly. Negril, MoBay and Ochi you can count on double the prices. You can do a day trip to Black River from Treasure Beach, it's not far by car. You can also go by boat for the river tour. I would spend at least 1 week in Treasure Beach, then head on over to Kingston for the remaining few days. What airport/s will you be using?

Pamposa- You will find once you get to TB you won't want to go anywhere else, FOR SURE! Negril is cool but pricier than anything that TB will provide! Also you will find it to be more touristy than TB! Treasure Tours and the other tour operators in TB can hook you up on seeing some of the surrounding sights for very little money.

I too will be arriving next weekend :-) Can't wait to crack open my first Red Stripe Lite in months!!! Happy Travels to you!

Pamposa, I agree with Jeannie and littlemamalisa, the most time out of your days on island will want to be spent in TB, it is less touristy, very friendly, beautiful and you can do things on a budget.

There is plenty to do and also plenty of nothing to do which is even better. Enjoy!

As a preemptive measure, Let's not get into "we're better than you" discussion. Let's focus on why we enjoy Treasure Beach and how it can be improved or other favorite areas on the island.

Beth you are so right, I born and grew up in Treasure Beach that's my home, most of us dont go to other places in Jamaica so we believe that Treasure Beach is the only friendly, less touristy place in Jamaica,Treasure Beach is Beautiful there are other places in Jamaica that are more beautiful, when I go home I go to other places and I get better service, warmer welcome and meet friendly people,I know a lot of people are going to be upset with me but it's the truth.

I give you one minute in Negril. Way too much hassle and aggravation.

Port Antonio is fine if you don't mind the rain. Last time I checked though, beach and rain don't mix. Give me TB anytime.
