The Caciques of the island were gathered with the Bohiques deep in a cave in the center of Yamaye, later called Jamaica.

The winds and the waves had been whispering of changes coming.

Their cousins on the mainland spoke of the return of Kukulkan or Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent who it was prophesied would return to continue his teachings of mathematics, building, astronomy, agriculture and science.

The return was expected from the direction of the rising sun. A white skinned bearded and cloaked one would come back and walk in love and teach.

The Caciques waited expectantly as the Bohique from the Domain of the Magic Serpent in what was to be later called Clarendon inhaled the dry powder from a 'Y' shaped tube.

All present had fasted and prayed to the Creator for guidance. All had done the final purification, the regurgitation of gastric contents with the assistance of a long curved Lignum Vitae spatula inserted down the throat.

The Bohique trembled, assumed a terrible grimace and braced himself as he was internally propelled by the action of the powdered seeds of the cohoba tree.

He travelled past the flashing lights and roaring sounds, disregarded the moaning ghosts and threatening demons and had a brief glimpse of the warp and weft of space-time.

He saw them, the three huge canoas with wings bearing strange men. He had accomplished his mission and could report to the assembly that the Outsiders where approaching, from the East.

Quaco stood on the beach and watched the ship come in.

It was loaded with ivory for the turners of Port Royal and London, gold dust for the Company, Ashanti, Fanti and Ibo. Obi, Islam and the drumbeat.

Quaco and his fellows looked at the newcoming Africans with the disdain of a 'baan yah' and refered to them as Guinea Birds and other now politically incorect terms.

With a one week pass from Bucky Massa he was free to watch and suggest at the auctions and carry back the purchased to the planation.

His pockets were full with British crowns and other assorted silver, his gardens were productive and Quaco was a master cabinet maker.

There was time to drink rum, skylark and gamble some of his silver with old friends and watch the new Outsiders settle in and be hardened.
