Rebecca, obviously you just wanted to say your piece on the unwarranted accusations meted out to you and Eric since messages are not allowed on the thread but every day I wonder how longer you guys would put up with the rude remarks. Are people aware that your time could be spent doing other things? Are they aware that there is no financial gains but you do it for the love of Treasure Beach and it's people? I have been having the strong and worrying feeling recently that one day "enough will be enough" for you guys and call it a day. It would be a sad day for me but would be the first to say you have had enough. If it ever comes to this, let me use this opportunity to state my appreciation for what was "the best thing since slice bread".

Oh my goodness!!!! I could not even imagine not having this site. Eric and Rebecca you guys do put up with a lot. However, there are some out here like myself who GREATLY appreciates this site and appreciate you TWO for all that have done.

First of all, i will say that I too am disgusted by the 'hateful' things people have said, not just in regards to Rebecca and Eric but to other people who have simply had dreams of living in TB as well as other posts.
One poster stated that they have many times not hit the 'post this message' button which I think may be part of the problem, and the poster(s) simply think that their post was deleted without bothering to find out for sure what the problem was, but other things have bothered me alot and that are the posts that seem to discourage anything good or anyones dreams.
At work I see that alot. Many people by nature are afraid of change, even if that change is in the long run for the best so they make accusations, call the people who want to make the change names, treat them like lepers, etc. Funny thing is that once the change is implemented the naysayers "hate" it for a few days and then after that it seems like they totally forget what it was like before the change, even embracing it.
It will be a happy day for me when people can accept that others have a right to their opinion and it's ok to argue that opinion BUT to resort to rude comments, name calling, assumptions, war etc. because of it is wrong.
It's not always easy to decide to not lash out, it's human nature. It just needs to be done in a constructive way, not destructive. Sometimes that means simply not even bothering. Just the other day I had to "bite my tongue" even though I so heartedly disagreed with someone, I knew it would be fruitless to even try to 'agree to disagree'.
I give Rebecca and Eric alot of credit. They do this out of the goodness of their hearts and it certainly is NOT the only thing they do. I'm not sure I would have the patience to continue on with the bashing that occurs whether they delete it or not. That sort of stuff is exhausting and energy sucking, at least for me.
This board helps me keep in touch with a place and people that I love and I love Rebecca and Eric for doing it. Other boards I have seen allow anything that is posted and it can sometimes be hard to sort out what is true and what is simply because someone is having a bad day and needs something no matter how trivial to bash on. But if the day ever sadly comes that they have had enough I also would like the opportunity to state my appreciation and I would never condemn them for 'throwing in the towel'.

Amen, Kathy! I have been the receiver of that discouragement in recent past! It is always interesting how people can feel so free to be mean and hateful under the cover of anonymity. We must be careful with these typed words as they can easily sound flat and unkind. Don't these individuals know that our creator sees them? I truly believe that Karma is King! What you give to our universe will be returned to you tenfold, even if it is negative and hateful. I use my real name and my own face in pictures posted! Nothing to hide. I try to be positive and encouraging to others and hope for the same in return. I haven't posted much since the TBnet went back online after "vacation". I was feeling a little discouraged about it all. This is an important site to so many! I love the way the community (TBers mixed with all the others) speaks with passion and caring for such a beautiful place. A place where, when you are there, there is nothing felt but POSITIVE VIBES! Yes - not everything is perfect and no one ALWAYS agrees but lets use our words carefully - as WE wish to be spoken to. Lets applaud Rebecca and Eric for taking precious time to give us this gift! I for one, would be very sad to see it go away.
LOVE AND RESPECT TO YOU REBECCA AND ERIC!!
Lisa

Rebecca and Eric have been there when those of us that feel part of this community needed this service.

I missed this forum when it was down but I'm glad the webmasters got a break. We can be demanding.

I would be willing to register with my ID if it came to that but do enjoy the separation, it encourages vigorous and open discussion especially for those of us shy of opening up in a public setting for one reason or t'other.

I hope those that have gone overboard and had posts excluded sweeten their speech and present their valued opinions.

Thanks Rebecca and Eric. Very appreciated.

I fully support your stand in censoring what gets posted on the forum. If we all had our way their would be total disorder. I've seen some of the comments geared towards you both and i really think its without merit and certainly unwarranted. I say if we don't like your decisions then we can take our opinions elsewhere otherwise we need to be respectful of you and Eric's decision and thats final.

Don't ever think you owe anyone anything and know that for every one that does not appreciate you there is 100 that do.

Thank you both very much for this avenue. See you this summer.

Like I said once before. This website/forum is not a democracy. It is controlled by the "webmasters", and they have the RIGHT to delete what they consider to be in bad taste, are does not follow the rules set forth by them.
BIG UP to them for having the site !!!!
ONE LOVE !!
Mike

I appreciate you guys for keeping up this site. I would lose my mind if tb.net went away. It keeps my Post Treasure Beach Syndrome managable.

I would also like to say thank-you to Rebecca and Eric for their tireless efforts to keep this forum going. They are both exceedingly busy people who have full time jobs in addition to managing the forum. I happen to know that Miss Rebecca is more likely than not to put in fourteen hours a day six (and sometimes seven) days a week, yet it is rare to almost never that the forum queue is not checked at least twice a day for messages. They do this as a public service because they love Treasure Beach and they are well within their rights to establish guidelines. The least we can do as readers is respect their decisions and not assume they take "sides" on issues. I am certain they don't, and I'm also certain they do not use an alias to post their views. They are up front and honest people who have only the best wishes of the community at heart.

Big up Rebecca and Eric for GIVING of their time to allow the forum and for using their good judgement in occaisionally censoring posts that are out of order.

THE SERVICE OF HAVING THIS OPEN FORUM FOR ALL TO ACCESS, SHARE INFORMATION, GET THEIR TB FIX, KEEP UP ON THE COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS ETC- INVALUABLE!

Keep on doing what you are doing. Remember, you can never please EVERYONE and squeaky wheel make the most noise.

First, thank you for the support. It is appreciated.

In the interest of full disclosure we do receive revenue from those advertising in the Where to Stay and Eat and Play sections.

As I joyfully explain my choices for my vacation and now as I watch and listen to my children telling friends and family how awesome TB was, inevitably the conversation on how we found TB rolls around to this website and forum.
I am sure Rebecca and Eric labor w/ love and frustration, and we are very grateful.
Thank you.

Hi Rebecca & Eric,

I do not know either of you, but as a Treasure Beach native, born and bred, I too am extremely grateful to you both to have such a website. It is so nostalgic for me and I do hope that this site will continue, inspite of the negativity of some of the postings.
I hope I will meet you one of these days when I visit Treasure Beach.

Littlemamalisa, it was so good to see your posting again. I truly enjoy your postings and the love you have for my community, even though I no longer live in T/Beach, but my heart is still there and I have lots of family there. I felt it for you that some of the postings were somewhat disturbing for you and rightly so, but keep on keeping on and do not be discouraged.
I do appreciate all the positive things you say about T/Beach and its citizens. It certainly is a beautiful place. I was last there in 2002 and it was awsome.

I have seen so many of my family members and other people that I know on this website.

Keep up the good work and keep on posting those beautiful photographs.

God's blessings to you all.

Carol.

I agree with Winston’s statement in his latest post of 06/14 on the Sports Complex thread: “For the first time, since I've been worrying about the future of TB, I see glimmers of a higher level of community organization, a unified voice protesting things like the stadium. Unless a message is really, truly, obviously offensive, it ought to be considered a contribution to the dialog.”

The treasurebeach.net forum is in my view the most democratic structure of this community. People can bring facts and opinions to the discussion in anonymity, without fear of retaliation. I believe, the managers of the forum are doing an admirable job keeping this invaluable democratic instrument going.

That they sift out personal attacks is good, but we also must be able to talk about specifics in order to advance the discussion. I wouldn’t mind if they strike out what they deem going too far, but still place the posting. All they need to do is replace the missing part with: “(breach of guidelines)”. This would also allow me to learn what is acceptable to them and what is not. [I see this being done on other fora.]

I'm sure I'm not alone in checking this site several times a week. I like to think I'm a "community tourist" and the site keeps me connected between annual visits. Illigitimi non carborundum!

Well said Carol.Just as you have written I myself would like to meet Rebecca and Eric one day. They were sent to Treasure Beach for a reason and I have no doubt about that.
I know when there is a tragedy in the community they are always on the ball to post it as early as possible.
When Hurricane Ivan hit TB they were the ones that kept us posted up to the minute and for that I cannot thank them enough.
Rebecca you are a "God Send" and may he keep you healthy and strong.
Sorry I did not get to meet you in February but, next time for sure.

This site is a magnificent expression of love.It is a real blessing. In my opinion the operators have been good stewards in relation to the ground rules laid down for making postings.

I am aware of the impact of negative criticism on any of us however, I feel the vision, passion and drive of the kind people who graciously provide the service wish to help people to rise above unkind or unhelpful actions and I hope they will continue with their goodwill contribution to humanity. This site facilitates news, good information, fun, lively and healthy debates and opinions costing just a little civil obedience.

MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND I UNRESERVEDLY STATE THAT WE OWE TreasureBeach.Net A TREMENDOUS DEBT OF GRATITUDE.

Its obvious the good work that the owners/webmasters do with the website and i would bet they do more behind the scenes stuff thats just as good. I am also a owner of a website with a very volatile discussion board at times so i know what it takes so i can talk on this.

However i am also a very fierce advocate for democracy/free speech and something i fully believe in, and thats why i no longer frequent this site, for lack their of of it, regardless of it being privately owned or not.Good or bad be neutral and roll with the punches, thats what i do.

It just so happened today, i log on to see if things has changed from when i last logged in and i see its not.

BIG UP same way.

Its a reggae website, with a community similar to tb.net. we do advertisements for events happening in and round the boston area.We also involved in charitable causes and foundations and anything pertaining to the caribbean communtiy here. We try to endorse and be a part of it one way of the other, and its not always pleasing to our members who does not spare the rod at times when they coming at me or gunning for at another member. LoL.

Web address is www.bostonreggae.com.
