We are adjusting the Master Plan of the Treasure Beach Sports Park, which is being executed by Neustone. The adjusted plan can be seen at the Breds Office in June, after which we will host a community meeting for input from community members and stakeholders.

We regret that a Lignum Vitae tree had to be removed, and will be replanting 50 trees. The tree was removed to enable the separation of the football field and cricket pitch, as the cricketers and other professionals agree that the pitch should not be on the football field as the pitch would be damaged as a result of the playing of football.

Thanks BREDS, I look forward to seeing the plans and watching the trees grow.

How about posting the plans here?

BREDS, when it is adjusted could you please be kind enough to post the Master Plan accompanied by any necessary explanations on this site.

On what date will the meeting take place?

Thank you.

To BREDS: The matter of the lignum vitae tree has been discussed on this Forum for more than a week. If you were a one person organization without access to a computer, I could understand you not responding to all the concerns expressed here. You are a fairly large organization. You have access to computers as shown by the publicity of your new "The Source" facility on this very Forum. I have no idea if cutting down the tree was legal, though your explanation makes some practical sense. What I am objecting to now is the appearance of not caring about the concerns of the community by not bothering to respond to outcries about what you chose to do in a timely manner. I know you do good things for Treasure Beach, but these are often overshadowed by people getting angry at you. If you would take five minutes to explain things, I am guessing things you do would be much more easily understood.

Yes, please post the plans here, as many who are deeply interested in this process may not be in TB.

Thanks!

Suggestion says it VERY correctly. We all know Jason/BREDS does a lot of good in the community. What is absolutely maddening is their apparent unwillingness to respond to things as quickly as possible on TB.net. I KNOW this makes me angry and it might make a lot of other people angry. I also believe it is a major reason Jason/BREDS often gets badmouthed. They have recently talked about winning a major hotel award, opening the new office and computer center, etc. If they took as much time addressing the questions people have as they do in spreading their own publicity, it would make me feel like they were listening to the people instead of giving speeches. There is something on TB.net about the ambulance and why it did not respond to one call and no one even answered their phone for another call. Why is Jason/BREDS not explaining about this? Why does Rebecca have to do the explaining? I don't think SHE is in charge of the ambulance.

This is not a forum for Jason or Breds to explain themselves to anyone. We have turned this forum in to a sea of demands and accountability based mostly on heated opinions and very little to do with facts.

We have very loud mouths on these pages but very little is done by us beyond these pages. There would be no explanation of an ambulance if there were no ambulance, so when did we take the time to appreciate the mere idea of having one much more actually having one.

We have all long for a place to bring together the sports we play and showcase the talents of our treasure beach men and women. We have it now but even then it seems like a problem. Most of us writing here never initiated a solution but we are quick to jump on the band waggon of blame and attacks towards the ones trying to piece together what this community needs.

No one needs to be accountable to me here on these pages cause what does it really achieve other than satisfying our growing egos without bringing any change.

The Treasure beach community based on percentage is not priviledge to the frequent access of this site so how may we even determine by the few postings of assault on Breds/Jakes/Jason/Seaplane how this community really feels? Are we presuming to speak for the masses? Take your fight for what you truly believe is right for Treasure Beach beyond these pages and into its community.

Our constant interpretation of every event into a negative before we even learn of its facts (Tranquility Bay's Acquisition)is a turn off to us folks who came to these pages to be in touch with the true essence of Treasure Beach, talked about so highly by its visitors. Lets restore these pages to the dream that once was "The Beauty of All That is Treasure Beach."

If you have something to say to anyone say it to his face otherwise be quiet.

Thank you

I agree Mr Semaj, a community meeting with proper notice or a printed ballot may get better feedback from more of the community.

I also agree that there should be no assaults verbal or other on anyone. Please point out where these have been.

It would be proper for you to correct any previously posted misconceptions.

For me whatever I post here are words I would say to anyones face. Unless those persons may threaten violence or illogical denial when faced with other perspectives.

It is certainly not the time to be quite.

The advantage here is that one voice speaks at a time. Less chance for confusion or obfustication.

nahor semaj:
you seem to be doing exactly what you are talking against .. a faceless person, saying nothing, to no one in particular.

The "masses" seem never to say anything, that is true, but their actions speak of what they think, as they quietly go about building higher walls and installing burglar bars. maybe they don't feel they have a voice. maybe they feel threatened in their jobs if they share their opinions.

i wish we all would and could speak without fear

i do not see this forum as having become a negative thing. it is real. and healthy to have such a forum. sometimes it is the only way one can talk and be heard.
there ARE some negative things happening in our community, and if we do not address the issues now, they will most likely grow out of proportion, and then what?

It is all well and good to have the 'idea' of an ambulance but if no-one answers an emergency call that what good is that idea.

Furthermore, regarding what people say as 'negativity', I beg to differ. I wonder if you know how luck we are that we have a forum accessible to everyone where we can discuss, argue, banter, joke...simply being able to communicate. I don't think there is anywhere else in Jamaica that has this option.

This forum helps to make people accountable and to enlighten others. There is input from people who know the long term dangerous effects of a police academy, cutting down lignum vitae trees, sea planes on the pond etc.

It is no good just burying our heads in the sand on very important issues and pretending we're in Disney World. These discussion help make Treasure Beach a better place.

love di forum, If this is the only place these discussions are taking place then i don't the see effect of change on those very importnat issues of which you speak. I very much respect all your points of view and as for me hiding behind the computer i am the only one disclosing my name and email access on this thread so lets not go there. Turey i do appreciate your posts as they mostly seem to reflect more of an objective perspective coupled with research documentation keep em coming.

Thanks Mr Semaj, I would think that more discussions are taking place outside of this forum than in. Just a guess knowing how wi stay.

Importantly they are happening. Research and timely presentation of facts is the best cure for the guesswork and spin of gossip.

Let's keep at it and hold the decided objectives in sight along the way.

I hope the 'adjusted plan' will take into account some of the logistical problems of the original plan as well as the concerns that have been voiced by the people on this site and at public meetings. I hope BREDS will keep in mind the size and scale of TB and not develop something so out of scale for the community. Bigger is not always better.

Yesterday, Barack Obama gave the commencement address at Notre Dame University. If you have been following current events, you will recall his being there and being awarded an honorary Doctorate was controversial; some did not wish him to be there because some of his personal beliefs are different than the official teachings of Notre Dame, a Catholic University. Nonetheless, the University did not back down from their invitation.

Mr. Obama's speech is too long to print here. However, the following excerpts are important because they discuss his feelings for how people with differing opinions should respect each other. They also discuss how important community service is. I would hope the readers of this Forum feel a bit more positive after they read Mr. Obama's words. I would also hope they find a way to provide some amount of community service in Treasure Beach.

"Too many of us view life only through the lens of immediate self-interest and crass materialism; in which the world is necessarily a zero-sum game. The strong too often dominate the weak, and too many of those with wealth and with power find all manner of justification for their own privilege in the face of poverty and injustice.

In short, we must find a way to live together as one human family.

Our very survival has never required greater cooperation and understanding among all people from all places than at this moment in history.

The question, then, is how do we work through these conflicts? Is it possible for us to join hands in common effort? As citizens of a vibrant and varied democracy, how do we engage in vigorous debate? How does each of us remain firm in our principles, and fight for what we consider right, without demonizing those with just as strongly held convictions on the other side?

For if there is one law that we can be most certain of, it is the law that binds people of all faiths and no faith together. It is no coincidence that it exists in Christianity and Judaism; in Islam and Hinduism; in Buddhism and humanism. It is, of course, the Golden Rule - the call to treat one another as we wish to be treated. The call to love. To serve. To do what we can to make a difference in the lives of those with whom we share the same brief moment on this Earth.

So many of you at Notre Dame - by the last count, upwards of 80% -- have lived this law of love through the service you've performed at schools and hospitals; international relief agencies and local charities. That is incredibly impressive, and a powerful testament to this institution. Now you must carry the tradition forward. Make it a way of life. Because when you serve, it doesn't just improve your community, it makes you a part of your community. It breaks down walls. It fosters cooperation. And when that happens - when people set aside their differences to work in common effort toward a common good; when they struggle together, and sacrifice together, and learn from one another - all things are possible."

Mr Semaj...I happen to live in Treasure Beach and this is NOT the only avenue for discussion but it happens to be the one we are discussing at the moment. I don't know if you live in Treasure Beach but there are a number of active committees and community meetings are held on a regular basis.
