does tb have any timeshare to buy?
I hope and pray the answer from someoneone who knows more about real estate in TB is NO.
Out of curiosity let me ask why a villa would be preferred over a timeshare? They both have different people staying in them throughout the year.
I don't understand Oh No's comment. Does it matter if someone is renting something for a week or 'owning' it for a week? I don't think timeshare ownership should be viewed the same as an all inclusive, which seems to be repulsive to most who post here. There is a pride in ownership with timeshare. There also seems to be a fine balance to be met between 'just enough tourists' and 'too many tourists'.
There is a nice timeshare community on the north coast, villas as opposed to most of what we see in the U.S which are of the apartment variety. I hear it is a gated community and services are provided something like a hotel.
most time shares are in large developed high rises or planned communities which is not TB...hence the response from Oh No....I think most lover's of TB would not want to see anything like that.
Thinking outside the box, I am not talking about 'most time shares' as Goddess states. I am also a lover of TB. And I would not mind owning a timeshare. Owning a room for a week or two a year does not need to be in the same sentence as "planned communties" or "large developed high rises". Imagine if you will, nothing else really changes. I think the villa and hotel owners may actually see more rooms filled up at non tourist seasnon. Hey, just a thought and I am not trying to get everyone all worked up.
High rises I agree is the last thing TB needs. I am just talking about having timeshares for the hotels that are already in existance. Not any type of developing anything.
We have had many problems with timeshares here in the U.S. This is not to say they are all bad, as many people enjoy using them. However, the Federal Trade Commission has been issuing "alerts" for some time now because most sales pitches attempt to convince prospective purchasers they are sound investments when they are not. Here is one example. http://www.lawpublish.com/ftc-timeshare.html
