How fortunate we are in Jamaica to be able to say or write anything anywhere at anytime. As long as slander, libel, criminal plans or treason are not on the table.

My big mouth would have got me in big trouble in other countries.

In Canada there are laws against 'hate speech'.

I wrote here strongly about DJ's promoting violence against homosexuals. While I disagree, they're exercising freedom of speech. Maybe they're cutting it close in promoting a criminal act: murder.

May we not take our freedoms for granted.

Now who can I cuss today? Whoops, I'm in Canada. When I come down!

I think there should be laws against hate speech and hate crimes everywhere. Feel fortunate, Turey.

Ah Canada Sounding Better, if only hate could be done away with. To me the process of eliminating, or at least reducing hate as much as one can is individual and needs care and constant attention.

As there does not seem to be sufficient of us willing or wanting to walk this path, laws and the means of enforcing them fairly , are the next best thing to keep order.

Yes I feel very fortunate to be a Jamaican and also to have the chance to experience Canada. Funny how cultures evolve differently. I think the regular freezes have a lot to do with the Northern mindset, so do the Brit etc and First Nation/Native American coevolvolution and blending of perspectives.

We all have much to teach each other.

This time begs for this to happen.

The Each One Teach One University wants to open it's doors to all now, free admission.

Agreed, Canada. Whatever each of us can do to diminish hate in this world is important. When "freedom" interferes with another's ability to live peacefully and with dignity, that can hardly be called freedom.

The world has far too much hate. I am for anything that minimizes this hatred. Live and let live. Love thy neighbor. Show kindness whenever you can. Help people less fortunate than you, even in small ways.

I believe the only reason DJs in Jamaica promote violence against homosexuals is not about freedom of speech; it is because that sort of hateful idea is accepted by much of the population who find homosexuality distasteful. This homophobia is often "backed up" by quotes from the Bible, supposedly "proving" God abhors such people. By the same token, many are absolutely sure that not being a true Christian condemns one to everlasting hell. Interestingly enough, while there is obviously some of that in Treasure Beach, I have had homosexual friends visit TB. They reported they encountered no hatred. Instead, they felt welcomed. One of them told me he sat and chatted with a Jamaican who admitted he'd never had an in depth conversation with an acknowledged homosexual, and the Jamaican was quite complimentary and expressed shame for some of his prior opinions.

I understand this is not the place for any for or against arguments regarding ones lifestyle or belief system. Even if it were, there would be no winner and many people would be angered or hurt by the various arguments put forth.

My feeling is people should be as non-judgmental as possible. Someone can perform good acts or bad acts, no matter if they are a Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, a Buddhist, an atheist, a black, a white or a homosexual.

I would prefer not to hear DJs condemn ANY peaceful group for its beliefs.

if "freedom of speech" incites ignorant minds, then it is dangerous and irresponsible.
why not instead gift words of encouragement and positive learnings.
how much better for the world in general that to be
tolerant and accepting that all are different.

The "dancehall" music in Jamaica and the "rap-hip-hop" music in the U.S. is overwhelming NEGATIVE in its lyrics !!
TRUE they have the RIGHT to their expression, but it does not promote a POSITIVE consciousness for young people to follow !!
FREEDOM requires some responsibility to be tolerant, and respectful of others opinions and way of life !!
ONE LOVE !!

Thanks Mike, great production.

I don't want no war, seems you don't, Bob didn't, all on the track praise the absense of conflict. A good start. You reader?

Maybe it's time that those that enjoy, plan or profit from war explain themselves.

Hate talk can only happen if hate is ruling our attention and swaying our emotions.

Maybe there will always be some that are made to be war promoters. Pity that those not interested get caught up in their plans.

The fight for power and the greediness of mankind will always contribute to the destruction of the world and depression on the poor, this video shows the common bond that different nations has ,in the interest of peace, but our leaders see things differently.
