As many of you know, the drainage canal in Calabash Bay has been in a state of perpetual construction (some call it destruction!) for the past several years. Not only has it been an eyesore, but it has also threatened the area inland with flooding if a hurricane or similar storm were to occur.

Knowing the severity of the situation, and knowing that the NWA has not been able to complete the project, we (Rebecca and Eric, the co-owners of this site) are proud to announce that we have a permanent solution. TBNet has partnered with the construction firm of Mustava Sensa Yumer based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to complete the project in a way that not only remedies the problem but also enhances the area and its local tourism product.

The basic idea is to use the canal as a transportation corridor for visitors arriving via seaplane. But it will be much more than that. The Yumer company has shown us designs for a Margaritaville restaurant (just like at the Mo Bay airport!) to be built along the canal along with several high end tourist souvenir shops and even a casino lining its banks.

Just imagine the effect on the area's economy when the hundreds of daily visitors departing from the seaplane will be able to come to Treasure Beach and not even feel as if they've left New York or London.

After much consideration, we (Eric, really) came up with the idea of naming it the TreasureBeach.Net Community-Based Eco-Tourism Economy-Stimulating Canal For the Betterment of the Local Community's Economy and Environment.

We were very pleased that there was absolutely no opposition to the plan at the community meeting we held last night at 11pm at Pelican Bar. I fact, the 2 people in attendance all agreed that we would have been foolish not to take advantage of this opportunity. And nobody likes being a fool, especially in the month of April.

We would love to hear your input on this project, which is final and won't be changed. Period.

-TBNet

This is utterly brilliant!! My feeling is all this should be built within an enclosed mall, complete with concierge service. In addition to high-end shops such as Tiffany, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo, Marks & Spencer, Gucci, and Hermes -- I would suggest duplicating (or perhaps exceeding) the indoor snow ski run in Dubai, UAR. One thing that has always been annoying about Treasure Beach is the warm sun. If the mall were climate-controlled, I would have an opportunity to wear some of my newest gowns and not have to look like an utter peasant in disgusting garb such as shorts and flip-flops. My further suggestion would be to have a duplicate of the St. Andrews (Old Course) St. Andrews, Scotland built as to give us something far more genteel to do than swim.

Thanks for playing along, folks.

For the record, Rebecca has nothing to do with this. (For some reason she doesn't possess a 12 year old boy's sense of humor :-)

No fair, Mair. I wanted to see the spray. Can you do it again? I was thinking SPRAY, not you hiding your face!!

The photos of the school kids with the UBA students are MUCH cuter.

Agree with Rebecca on the cup. Where did you get it?
