It was a wonderful evening at Sunset Resort a few nights ago remembering and respecting the lives of those fishermen lost at sea. Songs were sung, prayers were shared and candles lit for every one of those lives. To date I think the count is 78.
The Fisherman's Memorial was also shown in plan form, and discussed as to possible locations.
In all, it was very touching seeing both TB residents (and visitors) attend with such warm spirit to honor them.
No pomp or circumstance .. no promises.
Just big feelings and a lot of respect.
Photos to come. Sorry for my tardiness on posting the photos and a report. I will try my best for tomorrow.
And I agree with "more of this" it was a very special, heartfelt evening.
i was there and have to agree that it was a special night of love and spirit
a very special evening
The 4th Annual Fisherman's Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 14 at Sunset Resort. This year saw a very good crowd. As always the night was filled with emotions and reflections.
We are saddened to say 6 more names were added to the list of those lost at sea bringing the total to 79:
Kevin James
Wayne Robinson
Omar Williams
Garfield Bennett
Tommy Gordon
Desmond Gordon
This year we asked volunteers to hold a candle for those who did not have family or a friend present. A candle was lit for every name on the list.
As always we would like to thank the sponsors of this important event:

A donation box was passed around after the ceremony and additional funds were collected. These funds will be used for the erection of the Fisherman's Memorial. Kory South presented a sketch of the memorial being proposed. They are still working on the location and will keep us informed once that has been settled on.
Respect due to those who travelled from abroad to make sure to attend the service.
Let us pray for no more names to be added to the list before next year.

I would like to say thanks to everyone who came and supported this years Tribute, and a special thanks to those who helped with the preperations, planning, and the people who did the presentations, and thanks to Cookie Kinkead for the beautiful pictures, This year was very well attended and we were able to raise some more money for the memorial fund. still working with one land owner, on lacation of the memorial, will update very soon as to the date construction will begin.
I have Talked to The land owner and he has given us permission (pending a discussion on sight)to build the monument directly accross from King Fisher Plaza, where the sign that says lots for sale is. I think this is a great location, but i am looking for some feedback or other ideas, keep in mind we have permission to put it by the stairway nearest the main road at King Fisher plaza also, i cant wait to get started on the building of it.
Great news Kory.
The location across from the plaza sounds like a better location.
Kory, if you mean the little 'island' where you turn to go onto Old Wharf Road, I think it's a fabulous place to put the monument, sort of like a roundabout.
I like the location across from the kingfisher plaza since that is like the centre of tbeach and little roundabout as well.
I waited for words on the memorial service for the fishermen lost to the sea which is usually held in March but we are now in April and there has not been any posting. Would appreciate if something could be said as we have now become accustomed to the annual event, not to mention the erection of a monument which was being worked on.
Kory, I believe you are the chief architect, over to you.
