I'm starting to look into tickets again this year and am wondering what other people's strategies are.
What sites do you use?
Do you wait a certain amount of time before you fly? Like more than 4 weeks, or less than one looking for a bargain?
What other tips/tricks do you use?
I tend to use these sites and look more than a month in advance.
travelocity.com
orbitz.com
expedia.com
What about you?
Hey Eric, this is where I always visit for tickets
I use the same sites. I also check Air Jamaica (they're having a special right now from Ft. Lauderdale to MoBay for $158 round trip). I haven't found a fool-proof method that consistently gets me a cheap ticket, though. Good luck!
Also check out this very useful site for airline tickets.
"kayak.com"
They do not actually sell the tickets, but are connected to all the airlines and travel sites (such as the ones mentioned above)that do.
ONE LOVE !!
Mike
I use expedia or travelociy and although I have never used this site, skyauction.com has some good deals if you can get a flight near where you live, just watch out for the hidden fees they soemtimes throw in.
I got my mom her ticket on Travelocity for less than $300.00. She will be in Treasure Beach in July. We always get great deals in New York.
I use cheaptickets.com
and worryfree.com
certain times of year champion air also fly to jamaica from Texas book anytime as long as they have available seats price never change.
Oh Eric!not sure they fly from Austin.
I have been purchasing tickets for the last 5 years to Jamaica. Usually very expensive from Los Angeles. I am pleasantly surprised by the low cost for Rtrip from LA to MObay lately! I think now is a great time to buy airline tickets, while they are worried no one is flying and have dropped prices! Who knows what is going on with the economy - it may get better and the prices will go up again Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
I would book no less than 2-3 weeks, but no more than 3 months. Then when all is said and done, do NOT look to see if the prices are different after you've already bought your ticket - you will get depressed.
sidestep.com is a great site to find some decent flights.
Air jamaica is having blow-out, rockbottom fares. I paid $178 roundtrip fom NYC to Mobay for August coming. This is the cheapest I've paid in recent times.
Jet Blue just started service to MBJ (actually it starts in may but you can book it now). I booked a June trip for $89 each way plus taxes = $255 from NYC.
Their flights may not be included in kayak.com and sidestep.com and the other sites that check several airlines.
Looks like JetBlue is currently flying into MoBay ONLY from JFK. Great price, though, for those lucky enough to be in that area.
Best place for Canadians is westjet.com... $230 each way from Edmonton - MoBay.
I see that Air Jamaica's going to compete with JetBlue on the JFK-MBJ route. Maybe others will feel the competition?
