Come join the Women of Treasure Beach and
**** WALK **** For A Better Future.
If anyone is in the neighbourhood on Sunday the 8th March at 6am we are meeting at Kingfisher plaza for a fun filled morning walk. We would love it if you could join us or make a pledge to raise money for the Treasure Beach Women's Group & The Treasure Beach Foundation Scholarship Fund.
It is also International Women's Day and what a great way to celebrate. Contact the women's group for more info or just show up!!

I went on the Walkathon last year and it was a hoot. I bonded with lots of locals and there was music playing. It was great and excercise too!
How far does the group walk?
I was told tonight it is from Old Wharf to Billy's Bay
As stated above it starts at Kingfisher Plaza in Calabash Bay, goes to Billy's Bay and back to Kingfisher Plaza.
Can't it start at 7 a.m. instead of 6 a.m.? UGH!
It is early I know however it is a nice way to start the day (at least once a year;)it does beat the heat, and then you have the rest of the day to do as you will.
The walk takes approximatly 1 1/2 hours and follows the road from Kingfisher to Billy's Bay and back. Again it is a great way to support International women's day and the community of Treausre Beach! So get those walking shoes on and see you there
Yes please let it start at 7 a.m. Maybe even 7:30. The point is to raise money and have some fun, not to allow us insufficient sleep. I could understand if it was the Christmas morning parade, but this is really pushing it.
Oh dear, yes the point is to raise money and walk with the women, most of whom have busy sundays with their families, farms and work. I'm sure one day of getting up a little bit earlier is not toooo much to ask for these women who are walking to make a difference for community!
Watch out for the Treasure Beach Women walking and singing on Sunday morning. Show that you care and give them a wave as they pass by or better still, Why not joing them!!
So sorry I'm not there to join the walk..Not sure I could have walked that far anyway as I have a bad foot that kept me from coming to Jamaica earlier to do my (Aunt Daphney's) funeral.
I was more than happy to contribute while being there and hope the money raised will do much good.
Walk safe and do not forget to take along your bottled water.
Miss you all.
God Bless,
Murnel.
Yep, I just set my alarm for 5:15 a.m., UGH! But I will be there and I know it will be worth the early rising as I know we will all have a great time and will be raising funds for a great cause.
I'll post some photos for all who are with us in spirit.
Thanks Rebecca! and all those who are walking! Wish I was there.
How did this go? Is it allowed to say how much money was raised?
Why are you asking for the amount to be posted here? Whatever was made will be spent honestly.
Come on now, have some trust in these hard working women. They have neen doing good for the community for a very long time.
Hmmm. I assumed Simi's question was positive. Sharing the amount and/or number of participants would allow everyone (near and far) to celebrate the success of the event and the good works TBWG will be able to perform with additional funds.
I was only asking because I was curious. The TBWG is a fine organization and I never implied anything different. Please do not jump to any conclusions based on my question.
The walk-a-thon was a great success!
There were about 20 of us who joined in on the walk. TBWG does not have a final figure of how much was raised as pledges are still coming in. I'm sure they will post the final amount raised when they have it.
Check out the photos. You can view them here or by the link in the Photo Gallery
Thanks to all who participated and/or pledged their support!
I am so proud of all the women (and men) who did the walk. Next year we are hoping to join you big hearted people.
I"m so thrilled to see all the people that participated but, most of all I'm sorry I was not there to do the walk also.
I can just imagine the fun they had with Ted and his Music.
I'm hoping to see more people join-in next year.
More men and some of the young folks also.
You never can tell if, you just spread the word earlier.
Good luck and God Bless.Hope you made enough to do lots of good things in the village/district.
Where was Flora, especially if Ted was driving? She's a lady.
Looked like it was a lovely walk well done to all particpants and thank you so much rebecca for your lovely photos!
