Can someone please let me know how much the cost is to pick up someone from Montego Bay and take them to Cross Roads.

As Cross Roads is right next to TB, I would say it is the same cost as transport to TB. You will get various quotes the average being around $135 US.

If you would like to make arrangements for transportation Treasure Tours can help you out. Just email us at treasuretours@cwjamaica.com

Cross Road St Elizabeth or Cross road Kingston

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Asking on Monday, January 19, 2009 - 07:48 pm: Edit Post

Is it U.S. $135.00 round trip or one-way ?

I would think it's Cross Roads St Elizabeth seeing the person is landing in Montego Bay.

It is $135 one way. It is a 2 1/2 hour scenic drive through mountains and along the coastline and usually includes a few stops along the way.

why don't you lower the price back to 100 us
now that the gas prices are back to where
they were. (or lower than before the big
increase)

We would be happy to when the cost of insurance, Jamaica Tourist Board and Transport Authority licensing, vehicle maintenance costs, food costs, etc. lower as well.

As I am sure you have seen elsewhere, the only price that was lowered was gas prices. And, I've noticed over the last week, they are creeping up again as I just paid $4 JA more per liter yesterday than I did last week.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By traveler on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 08:35 pm: Edit Post

it is still 35 ja per liter less than in sept.08
use that savings to offset your costs.

TRIP FROM MIAMI TO MONTEGO BAY 245.00 IN DECEMBER
BY AIR. 270.00 FOR ROUND TRIP TO TREASURE BEACH

Please indicate your email address and I will be glad to suggest an alternative.

The $135 is for the van, not per person. The plane from Miami charges per person. Everyone has to make a living. Jerry

I totally agree with you Visitor.I wanted to say the same thing but thought that my message would not be posted. That's more than a rip-off.The airfare is cheaper from some places than that enormous price they are quoting . I am sure the local Taxis do not charge that much.

Please consider that the people who transport you also need to pay for wear and tear on the vehicles. So, $245 (after fuel costs) isn't a rip off in my opinion. We all know the roads aren't the best and can cause alot of damage to vehicles. Your driver is driving from TB to MoBay, Mobay to TB and the same trip again when you leave. That is 4 times the driver is taking the journey. Us tourists only see half of that. $245 diveded by 4 equals $61.25 each leg of the trip. Divide that by the 3 hours (including stops) and it comes to about $20 per hour. Now the $20 per hour the driver has in their pocket has to cover the costs of the wear and tear repairs and normal maintenance. This is also a main source of income for many people who transport you.

I don't see why the fuss.I bought a car and left in Ja for transportation when i'm there.I sold it back for cheap as my first hour of drive from the airpotr i lost two tires. The cost to replace was $200us.Think if it was one of these person's vehicle that would'nt be my responsibility at the same time that person would loose big time. Now the way i'm scared to even do my own driving I hire for all my trips. There's more expenses than gas, insurance, taxes. These drivers are very experienced drivers not to mention safe. Please consider all conquencies before blaming. If you think it's a rip off----go bundle up in public transportation and tell of your experience.I personally would pay twice that amount,be comfortable and treated with respect. These people don't harass or beg for you to choose them. Please give them a break.

Treasure Tours, how much will it cost to transport 6 people via mini-van from Mo Bay to Frenchman. Thanks

More power to those of you who think it is not a rip off. The Taxis and some buses do charge cheaper ,so it's up to you to choose whom you wish to travel with. On the other hand ,you can also travel by public transport . Take a bus/taxi to Savanna-la-mar ,another from there to Black River and another from there to TB. Works out cheaper for those who are street smart.

US$135 might seem to be high but in reality it is not considering the cost of mentaining these vehicles, paying drivers and fuel cost. The fare from M'bay to TB was US$100 in 2000 and I am sure that the cost for everything has quadrupled since. So in effect these operators are subsidising the services they deliver. It is a joke to use that plane ride example when if you step into a taxi in Ft. Lauderdale for a 15 min. ride to the airport it is $25 minimum charge which they gladly pay because "a forign wi deh". But hey no one picks you up at the airport and then tell you the price at the end of the trip. Everything is upfront, take it or leave it.

Don't forget with luggage-----------chartered price.Tug along hustle and bustle.I thought when one takes vacation is for relief of stress.Public transp.don't work sorry.Every thing is not for everyone.I just ask you leave these people with their prices and transportation alone and do what suits you.Stop making people who don't know better think these great help are rip-offs.

Yes this is cheeper, but also a slower way to arrive!
Compare Jamaicas price to U.S.A. prices, UGH! Jamaica way cheeper!
Just my opinion!

To Arriving Soon. Treasure Tours charges $135 US for up to 4 persons. Each additional person is an additional $20 US. This is for AC vehicles with Jamaica Tourist Board and Public Passenger Vehicle licenses and insurance. Your driver can take you to a place to exchange money for you getting you a much better rate than the airport gives, take you to a supermarket if you would like to pick up anything you need, and stop with you along the drive for a snack or drink as you request. He will also give you a bit of a tour along the way.

If you would like more information please contact us at treasuretours@cwjamaica.com

After 1 1/2 - 24 hours of flying depending on where we are coming from, 2 - 24 hour wait in the airport, if there is a flight delay and sometimes not familiar with the ups and downs of the country to which we are travelling some of us just want to get a direct ride to our vacation destination. So whoever want to take the hustle and bustle of the street go ahead and do so and just let the ones of us who want to know the cost do so without your critisms

TO FYI don't tell me that after getting off a plane you would go through all that hassle of getting off one bus to the other. What time are you planning on reaching TB? The price TB tours quote is quite reasonably.

Keep up the good work Treasuretours. I would rather be in an insured vehicle, safe ride, honest driver, and enjoy scenic view and be at peace.

It appears some people just wait for others to post and then jump in with negative vibes. Remember what Bob said: " Rastaman vibration..POSITIVE"

Anyone who owns a car or van in jamaica or any where else,if they are a taxi or not, thay have to maintain it, pay insurance and watch for hazards in the road. I don't mind paying for gas and the drivers time, but not the up keep for there car or taxi. 135.00 is still to much.

I am the person that started this POST and I got my answer and was thankful for it.

Why is it it's gone on to become nasty by talking about ripoffs and gas prices etc, etc. Why can't we
all act like grown-ups.

I mentioned going from Montego Bay to Cross Roads.
I will just email Treasure Tours in the future depending on my questions.

Just my two cents, but I am happy to pay the price for Treasure Tours to be in the hands of someone safe and reliable and since I usually travel alone I don't have to worry about being hasseled. Plus they will stop if I ask for money or drinks. Keep it up.

For the sake of enquiring minds: what does it cost in US$ to travel the MoBay Airport to TB via Sav and Cross Roads?

Assuming I carry a small backpack and am flexible about squeezing up, music etc.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Stop Complaining on Sunday, January 25, 2009 - 08:13 am: Edit Post

I agree this string has gotten nasty. People with all kinds of budgets visit Treasure Beach. If someone is really trying to save money, then they can take busses and taxis; but they need to understand Jamaican taxis are not like those in the U.K. or U.S. They are crammed full of people you don't know and may not be the safest. They are definitely not the fastest or most comfortable. If a van costs $135 one way for up to 4 people, that means you can travel in comfort for $33.75 plus a small tip for a 2-1/2 to 3-hour trip and your driver will stop for bathroom and food breaks and to help you exchange money at good rates. He will also point out interesting things along the way. You can also rent your own vehicle at the airport, and this is unbelievably expensive - not like Florida. So there are choices for all kinds of budgets. Keeping a van in excellent shape and insuring it properly is very expensive in Jamaica; petrol is only one factor in pricing the service. I think it's wrong to complain about the cost of van service. If people think it's too high, they have other choices.

Wow! Not sure how I missed this thread but... I can tell you from my perspective that Treasure Tours is worth every penny and then some for transportation. We have used their services for every visit (excluding the last one where we decided to be adventurous and rent a car ~ for a very pretty penny I might add). We always felt safe and very much enjoyed the "tour" to TB...it's part of the trip!

Taking a taxi here, to the airport (on a very straight through freeway and a 40 minute drive) is $85 + tip. No stops and a hello if you're lucky.

Treasure Tours isn't even remotely overpriced in my opinion.

PS - you'd have to pay ME $135 USD to take one of those route taxis...lol

I have rented a car at the airport in mo-bay for
around 300.00 wk. from avis without ins. wavier,(use mastercard world card)it covers it.I hope gas does not go up again, it might cost you 340.00 round trip next time. How about in 5 years
400.00 round trip?
