Treasure beach needs a Fire truck !!!After the call for help for the big fire between villa Jaja and Sally,s House, the Fire Brigade reached one and a half Hour later
and this is 1 Hour and 15 Minutes too late!
First we will find Fire extinguisher ,but we do need a Fire Truck.could be a older Truck(example like water commission) and could operate like Treasurebeach Respons Unit!!
Marblue will be a sponsor for that Project.

What happened? Is anyone hurt or did any home burn? Should this be part of a new thread?

Good on you axel , I think it's a great idea ! We saw the smoke from dubloon and heard the fire engine an hour and a half later and thought that's dreadfull! I think a fund should be started and would gladly make a donation:-)

Thankfully, all that burned was brush. Miss Sally's house was in the direct line of the fire, but thanks to all the volunteers who came out with buckets and fire extingushers and had the tenacity to not give up, the fire did not take her house.

As many times as I am witness to it, I am still amazed how quickly this community comes together and helps out in a crisis.

Treasure Tours would also be very grateful to have an opportunity to help sponsor anything in the way of fire protection.

In all fairness to the Black River Fire Brigade, they were fighting a major fire just outside of Black River when they got the call. The Junction fire truck is currently broken down so the next closest is Santa Cruz (a 50 minute drive away).

The community needs to be stimulated regarding an urgent necessity as this - TB should have a back-up system - if it's even a tank on wheels to be dragged by someone in case of emergencies like this.

Total reliance on an inefficient system such as 'sick fire engines' definitely will not help a threatening fire to anyone's house or property and maybe lives. Calling a firetruck is mere chance - that is if truck is working or not. This will determine the length of time it takes to call a back-up engine from another location - in the meantime 'Rome burns'.
Let us all be proactive for 2009!!

We dont need a fire truck if we are careful in cutting down on the burning of garbage or waste material. If we send the garbage to the SPM garbage trucks and dump the trash/leaves/vegetable matter in a hole in the back yard in a compost heap then all the uncontrolled fire would be of the past.
We cannot have fires being lit without proper management. During windy days or when the grass is dry it makes it hazardous to burn during those times. When will we realize that the smoke does damage to our lungs more than seeing an unsightly drum waiting to be picked up by the SPM garbage trucks. We should instead start the "STOP THE BURNING" Campaign.

Very good point Antifire. Another thing we need to be very careful of is lit cigarette butts. A friend was just telling me how he thought he had outed his cigarette butt after throwing it on the ground the other day. He went around the front of the house, thankfully came back a few minutes later and grass had already started to burn where he threw the butt down, and with the wind blowing a good amount had caught in less than 2 minutes.

You have to remember you have different types of fire - e.g. electrical short circuit so one does not have to negligently or deliberately start a fire - there are emergencies too.
