Stayed at Jakes 2 years ago & loved it! Planning a stay April 2009, would like ocean front, tranquil, fairly secluded & more economical Any suggetions?

I don't think they are saying that at all. I think what they are saying is they are two very different places. It is like what I say about Negril vs. Treasure Beach when folks ask. They are apples and oranges, both very sweet, but two totally different flavors.

It sounds like Golden Sands would be right for you. Not as pretty and upscale as Jakes but in vaguely the same mode. Friendly guests. And a great dog. Well located too in terms of finding inexpensive, good meals. You can always go down to Jakes to hang out and have a drink.

Try Treasure Trove Cottage 876-895-3363. Next door to Golden Sands, right on the beach and reasonably priced

Thanks for the input. Arriving 04/04/2009, staying 15 days. Still have not made concert reservations. Still looking. Any more suggestions ? What about Ital Rest ?, Villa Mutamba, Villa Jah Jah ? Thanks in advance.

Golden Sands is in a great location but the only thing I don't like about it is the endless amounts of concrete. It just seems like a parking lot to me. I would try one of the villas like Villa Jah Jah or Lyric. Cost about the same as staying at Golden Sands and less than Jakes but is private and has a cook/housekeeper and Lyric has a pool. Jah Jah is on a great little private beach. My 2 cents/sense.
