As someone with an incredibly sweet tooth and a real soft spot for bags and jewellery, this sounds like bliss! Especially since I know just how scrummy those Culloden Cafe cakes are!

One more shop/store that's all we need.
Where will the customers come from?
Money is tight and will be for a while.
Wish you luck!

I really have a problem supporting a business that shows their caring for the community by allowing the 5 dogs (she walks) to do their business on the beach where children are playing and people are walking; and not pick anything up.

I've watched this 3 days in a row. In all the years that we have been coming to TB, I have never seen someone show so little regard for the community, on what is appearing to be regular base.

In other tourist areas, such as Negril, people go home with worms & fungus in their feet due to dog excrement on the beach. Not a nice way to end a holiday! I've never seen that reported on Treasure Beach! Watching someone bury it in the sand right where the children have been digging & playing all day was disappointing to say the least and if this happened in say..the US...there are laws to ensure that people are responsible.

I truly hope that this practice is discontinued and people take note of things like this happening in this little community!

Oh my - that is me. I am so sorry. I am caring for a friends dogs and I just lost track. I carried a plastic bag but must have missed one. Just for the record - these dogs regularly see a vet and are not strays that have diseases. No excuse though. It will NOT happen again.

Just a little comment here for disgusted. In the fifteen years I've lived in Jamaica I have never, not even once, seen anyone clean up after their dog on the road or beach or anywhere. That does not make it right, only a comment as to the difference in cultures you might experience around the world. Today I saw a tourist walking down the main road in a bikini. This happens frequently and is perhaps not judged as wrong by other tourists but believe me many locals, especially the older people, view this as very disrespectful behavior. Every culture has it's do's and dont's. An apology has been made by the dog owner and hopefully local people will see her cleaning up after her dogs and follow her example. I only hope that tourists will keep in mind that they are not in their own country and respect the residents of Treasure Beach when they leave their villas and hotels to walk out on the road.

Hello There, sorry,
it was really decent of you to aplogize

however none was necessary, this person must remember they are not in the 51 st state of america where there are 50 million laws, that suffocates real freedom, and anyway people in america kiss thier dogs on the lips, perhaps forgetting that a dog licks both ends, so what is the point?

Perhaps what is NOT needed is another shop that sells rice, flour, liquor etc. In that case the little money spent on those items would have one more direction to go. Shops with the same old same old are a dime a dozen in the area which is, like alot of Jamaica, over-saturated with these type shops.

When a new business with a new idea opens up, it brings MORE money into the community. It has the potential to provide MORE employment as well.

I was fortunate enough to visit the new shop- found it to be JUST what I need- another place to go when I need internet access. We presently only have Southern Supplies, Jakes and Jack Sprat that I am aware of (not counting places that have internet for their guests).

Being a lover of coffee I really enjoyed the large french press of coffee I was served. Having a bit of a sweet tooth I opted to try out the chocolate chip cookies (GREAT), the chocolate cake (EXCELLENT) and something I believe was called salt water caramel (TRULY DEVINE). A table in the shade provided a nice view of the sea. Service was polite, prompt and attentive- hard to find ALL 3 of those qualities in most of our local businesses.

I was surprised at the reasonable prices on the Calaloo line of goods, including $10 US hand sequined tshirts and a large eclectic variety of other affordable gift items.

The hours are 9-4 and I believe they will even be open Sundays- if you like coffee and sweets, and need internet access I think it is worth supporting.

Excrement does carry diseases as do any excrement, humans see the doctors that doesn't mean their excrement can be use as fertilizer, it's call waste and ( I think) it might even be toxic. PLEASE DON'T BURY IT IN THE SAND AGAIN!!!!

Sorry should know that dog feces - no matter what kind of care the dogs have, and no matter how precious the dogs are to their owners - are full of nasty germs of all sorts. All the good care, good food, and vaccinations do NOT make dog feces into a benign substance, any more than human feces are a benign substance. Sorry should be more than sorry, and should pick up every single dog load, as should all owners of dogs on all beaches, everywhere. Ugh!

One thing I forgot to say - and is very important...we are looking for workers. We are looking for an honest, easy, happy-to-talk to people, kind of person. Someone who understands the idea of good hospitality and what it takes to make customers comfortable and happy. If that is you - or someone you know - please call 965-3313 or 383-3872. Thanks.

I don't know that I have ever seen someone apologize on this site. Plus, the person signed her name. Enough is enough in terms of berating her. She was most gracious. Why not treat her the same way?

Loco makes an interesting point about seeing a tourist walk down the main road of Treasure Beach in a bikini. I have been coming down there for a long time, and I am often embarrassed by the way tourists act in someone else's country. Go into the market in Black River and all the women vendors are wearing dresses and skirts, often with a slip underneath. Jamaicans in this area tend to be quite modest. Yet one often sees tourists in very short shorts in the middle of town. I would advise that ALL people attempt to show respect for one another and for each others beliefs.

Oldtimer, I must disagree with your statement that the laws in the U.S. actually suffocate freedom. Using the example of doggy doo doo, I feel that everyone deserves a clean beach, and possibly having a small child building a sand castle mixed with doggy doo doo to me is not real freedom. Laws are created to let everyone have 'quiet enjoyment'. And by the way, we have only 50 states.

there are those tourists who love the little dogs, especially if they have left their 'loved ones ' at home with the dog sitter. what do the dogs on the beach have to do with the woman"s fabulous new "sweet shop" and that wonderful line of clothing. etc. in the dress shop. what about all those stray dogs on the beach? who can be blamed for their doodoo?

I think if you have a dog you should be responsible for cleaning it and clearing up after it,I do not have a dog and if my child built a sandcastle and there was dog mess there i would be disgusted.
The woman made a mistake and she apologised ,but dog mess especially in a place aimed at getting business or tourists especially where children will play is a big no-no and I do not care what state the dog in,Nobody wants to smell see or step in it!

Excuse me, but when you are somewhere else it shows respect to follow the local customs and dress codes, at least within reason. As a really far fetched example, what if you are a nudist? Do you think it would be OK to go down the road naked? I see people in the airport in Montego Bay and as an American I often feel embarrassed because these Americans are wearing things like skimpy little tops and seem half drunk. If a Jamaican dressed that way at the airport in Chicago people would be offended. I am no prude but I believe there is something wrong with not taking two minutes to think of your impact and then offending those around you. Wear a bikini on the beach or near the pool but not on the road. Also the person in this string was talking about VERY short shorts in places like Black River not in Treasure Beach where it is totally fine.

Personally I am so looking forward to this coffee, I can already smell it............... As for dogs and bikini's well, comfort is the thing, everyones' level seems to be just a bit different .
Makes the world go round I suppose.
Respect however is pretty across the board I'd say - so looking forward to that coffee, mmmmmmmmmm

Respect is Respect anywhere you go on this planet. The money that is spent on a vacation is not a free pass to disrespect other countries and their culture. TB you need to get rid of stray's before you have a very serious problem on your hands. What is being done about the cocane smokers on the beach?. I would bet that they don't always use a washroom.

MnKen. Your wife back here in Minnesota does not appreciate you saying "nothin wrong with a little eye-candy" especially since I have not gone with you to TB for the last three times. I would not expect you to say such an aweful thing. Especially with three daughters.
