Although we always need monies, let us keep Gt Bay's beauty. I like the fact that the beaches are soooooo beautiful and peaceful. We don't need too much going in and out or too much going on right now.

"just asking" no, im not a Parchment, im a Tatham, my family owns two of the villas in great bay. getting people together to do someting like any sort of promotion, would be an impossibility, i believe. so, that being said, lets just keep it a word of mouth kind of place, it will be overrun with people soon enough as it is. jah bless

Great Bay is the place those in the know head for nature, tranquility, scenery, calmest beach in Treasure Beach, most scenic beach.

Not alot is going- most people are attracted to that.

Small facelifts have occured- the Adventist church just had alot of wonderful work done and looks fabulous, as does Ms.Judy's guesthouse which went through some big renovations.

If you get hungry there is Ms.Judy (HiYo) about a half mile down the turn into the village for great chicken and very affordable breakfasts (rooms are VERY affordable there as well). Ms.Bev also does chicken another quarter mile or so up the road in a blue and yellow shipping container converted to eatery. At the beach you have Michaels seafood and a host of small bars on the sand for the Red Stripe to wash it down.
Jack Spratt now delivers to Great Bay- so getting the proverbial pizza (or steam fish with rice and peas, festival or bammy) delivered to your hammock can now happen with a quick call!

Right now the ponds in the area are choking with huge beautiful lotus, great for pictures or if you know what you are doing, pon cakes. (Rebecca did a nice shoot of pon cake hunting and posted it awhie back). There are a great deal of egrets and herons and other unique birds and ducks that frequent the ponds in Great Bay- bird watcher or photographer's paradise.

Lots of hiking opportunities, the Pedro Bluff is criss crossed with paths. Take plenty of water and start out early. Don't forget your camera. Views from the Bluff into the sea are amazing. It is very amazing to watch the pelicans diving into the bay from the bluff. Many more hiking opportunities, from the hills, back seaside, or our dirt roads that connect Great Bay to Calabash Bay. If you like mountain biking, you will also be in heaven here.

There is a reason Captain Dennis takes the shallow bar out to the Bluff for sunsets- there is no where prettier.

Vikings has some great new sit on top kayaks even the first timers can master a trip along the bluff in calm water, a wonderful way to explore the bay!

If you need a villa, we have a few- as well as a nice hotel on the beach. There are several guesthouses, from the simple to those that offer AC and swimming pool. Great Bay will soon be home to the first campgground in the area- Ital Jamaica- where tent camping and accommodation in a traditional wattle and thatch hut will feature on grounds that emphasize sustainability.

We have a few churches for those so inclined, spend a Saturday or Sunday joining in a service.
Lately there have even been services on some nites at local shops and even bars!

Great Bay is not for those who need to be in the midst of alot of action. Night life may consist of star gazing or creating your own fun at a local bar- don't expect entertainment to be there for you. Some people would be bored in Great Bay- even if they love Treasure Beach, Great Bay will be TOO quiet for them. Some find Great Bay JUST RIGHT.

Due to the fact that there are a limited number of rooms for rent at the village I don't think Great Bay is in ANY danger of being overrun anytime soon. Feel free to come and spend a few days you may find just what you are looking for.
