To all the fishermen
May your lines be tight, the fishing great and your boats be safe!
Yes Shauna the tournament has officially begun!!!!
16 boats signed up from Treasure Beach, one boat from Parottee, and four boats from Aligator Pond.
I just spoke with Dennis Abrahams who is already out on Peck's boat from very early this morning. He said this is the most exciting tournament yet as for the last two days all the fishermen have been gathering seaside, rigging boats, conferring on strategies, etc. You know we Treasure Beach folks can't have any of those Aligator Pond or Parottee fishermen showing us up now can we!!!
Dennis said they had a good bite already this morning . . . but it got away.
Shauna, I know your men were planning on leaving out at 4 this morning. When I saw them yesterday evening they were headed to the beach to confer with the captain. If they catch a fish as big as the smiles on their faces, they will win!
The weigh-in for today and tomorrow is at 6 p.m. You know I will be there with my camera and will report back.
The final weigh-in is at 2 on Monday.
Wishing all the fishermen safety and loads of fun!
Dennis just called - they just caught a 22 lb. wahoo!
The other boats checking in say they have gotten nothing so far, but who knows, they may be keeping their catch a secret . . .
oooh....nice size!
When I heard from Nigel last night, he said they were going out at 4:00. I imagine they weren't the only ones but I know they were all pretty pumped. Thanks for the updates!
Can a fisherman keep the size of a fish a secret? ;o)
It is official! The first fish weighed in this competition is a 21 lb. wahoo brought in by Shabba, Peck, Jason, Christian, and David.
Hey Peanut, only those registered can catch the fish!
What I meant Shauna was fishermen will keep it a secret that they caught a big one while out at sea so the rest of the participants won't know where they caught the fish and rush to "their spot".
Just heard Len Parchment has come in with a 28-pound fish!!
aaaaah....now i unnerstan ;o)
will wait to hear more :o)
Guess what Shauna . . . Nigel is currently in the lead!!!!!!!! John Gordon's boat (of which Nigel was in) is now in the lead with a 28 lb. crossbar. Ray Moxam's boat brought in a 27 1/2 lb. fish (don't know the kind).
Peter, I haven't hear of Len's fish, so maybe he is still coming in and hasn't weighed in yet.
Two more hours for the final weigh-in for today, so lots can still happen.
Shauna, I saw Nigel at Delvin's celebrating with some jerk and absolutely determined to catch something bigger tomorrow. Oh, and of course, telling the story about the big one that got away . . .
What fun!!!!
Hi Rebecca,Just a mistake with the names it Roy Moxam and not Ray Moxam.Alas name Uncle Royie.
Thanks so much for the correction PUK_PUK.
Well, the first day of the tournament has come to a close and John Gordon's boat is holding on to first place.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!
RAYMOND MOXAM FISH WEIGHS 27 1/2 LB NOT ROY MOXAM
woohooooooo Nigel! Hang onto it and hopefully today brings an even bigger one!!
Thanks for the updates Rebecca! Sounds like a ton of fun is being had and I can't wait to hear how things are going today!
I've just gotten an update from Shabba and all is quiet so far this morning. The 28 pounder is still holding on to the record.
Len Parchment was in John Gordon's boat yesterday, so he is part of the crew that pulled in the 28-pounder. As of now, that boat is still in the lead.
We can see more boats coming in now from our verandah.
To the best of our knowledge all the boats are in for the evening. I sure hope so anyway because as I am typing this a good ole thunderstorm is headed our way.
Paolo held the lead for about 1 1/2 hours today bringing in a 29 lb. crossbar. But that lead was torn away when Gary, Brodie, and Kendog hauled in a 40 lb. amber jack!
The pressure is now on for tomorrow!!
waiting to hear.....
I'll have a double!
The was the view from my verandah about 30 minutes ago.
I think this is a good sign for a good day of fishing tomorrow.
Nice coz Gary I see u got the BIG ONE
Wow...nice fish..."someone's" gonna have to really make a move tomorrow.

I would just to like send our belated congratulations to Ken Dawg and crew for their win. We have just arrived home in England after having a fantastic holiday once again in Tresure Beach. I would also like to thank BREDS and the Hook and Line Tournament for allowing Dave and myself to take part. We only managed an 18lb Kingfish but the excitement, atmosphere and respect from our rivals, friends and fishermen made being a part very special. The fact that they allowed me, a woman, to take part was awesome. And guess what? We will be back next year!. One thing, I think you should put the year of Tournament on the t-shirts, I have mine but may forget the year in years to come, you know, when old age sets in :-)
May I be a bit political? I'ts a family trait.
In England there are a few ways that the government help people like the fishermen and farmers and one of the ways is with subsidised/tax free gas. We call it red fuel. These necessary industries have almost unlimited access to this fuel as without it they cannot function and consumers suffer as well as the fishermen who cannot afford to go out to get the fish we love to eat. Maybe someone can ask whether Dr Tufton has any ideas in this area and whether he has looked into it.
Thanks Treasure Beach see you in 2009.
Leonie McLeggan and David Hackett.
I'm a bit behind with this, but thanks Peckol whom I just spoke to and saw LIVE on skype video phone call on the computer (WOW, it was very joyful and yes, emotional, after 38 years...), for directing me to this topic where he said there photos...
and WOW
BECAUSE
I now see Ken(Yellowman)dog and Brodie again, older, wiser, but still looking dan-ge-rous !!! : )
come back later and I would have posted here a photo or 2 of Kendog and Rosco. Brodie too.
Now to search for that elusive Rosco. Rosco, Rosco, come out, come out, wherever you are .... You can run but you cannot hide...
