Yamaye was/is still used in parts? of Cuba.

One meaning I got from someone I learn from is:

The Domain of Atabey, the Earth Mother.

Thus; land of springs/wood and water etc..fecundity, female.

The merging with the more African River Mumma/Maid makes sense as the earth indeed gives forth from a seemingly endles womb. Flowing water and river heads/blue holes are obvious places 'her' manifestation.

Anyone have any other data re Yamaye, Xamaca , Jamaica?
