If any one has a rough estimate of the population, it would really help me out. the only figure I can find on the internet is 14125? It is for a research project on Treasure Beach for a economics course I am doing.

Thanks

That HAS to be a wrong number. No way that many people in TB.

I'm reviving this thread because I could really use the same information. In addition to population, perhaps someone could give me an idea of how many tourists visit T.B. every year?

I have a paper to do for school also. What better topic to research than my favorite place on earth?

If I get an A, I'll buy the person with the best answers a red stripe. If I get a B, I'll buy 'em a red stripe light. I'm a pretty good student so we won't worry about anything worse than a B. :-)

Hey Mair. You may want to check with the Ministry of Tourism. I believe they keep statistics like this. Another source may be The Jamaica Tourist Board but they may only keep track of the JTB approved accommodations. So my bet for a better number would be Ministry of Tourism as their numbers would be more based on the info gleaned from the immigration cards collected at the airports.

If I win, can we make it vodka?

Seems to me the best source may be the folks who run elections. I don't readily find what Mair and MissKTLuv are looking for, but there's a contact us link at the website. Numbers of registered voters at each TB polling place ought to be pretty up to date.

=) Absolute(ly). Make it a double!

I did score some nice statistical data from the JTB in a pdf, but it's void of any south coast info. Basically, what I'm going to end up doing is adding together all of the data from the big 3 - MoBay, Negril & Ocho Rios, subtract that number from the total and use what's left as a target market lol. When given lemons, make lemon meringue pie! :-)
