Is it true or rumour that the internet cafe in the Kingfisher Plaza will be closing.
Thank you.
It has shut down. I don't know if BREDS has plans to open it elsewhere. There is access to Internet at Southern Supplies and Services located next to the ice factory, just up the road from Kingfisher Plaza.
Jack Sprat has access to Internet for patrons.
If anyone knows of anywhere else, let us know.
Odd coincidence or strategic move in light of all the recent heat regarding Breds and the sports park, transparency, etc. ??? One can't help but wonder.
Thank you Rebecca
I appreciate the information and am glad to hear that there will still be internet access for those of us who are not guests of Jakes.
It has been close for almost a week now.It will be greatly miss as it was a biggy for the community.
Excuse all thes questions, but I want to understand what has happened. Was that not the BREDS office and also a place to use the Internet and also a place to buy computer supplies? Where did the BREDS office move to? Does Southern Supplies and Services also sell computer supplies? What moved into the BREDS old office in the Kingfisher Plaza?
It's really very sad and unfortunate that the people at Breds don't seem to realize how much more productive it would be to join together with this forum for the positive future of the whole community. Their evasiveness and seeming lack of interest in joining forces will only further divide people into warring camps. Seems awfully silly really. I for one would rather support the efforts of Karen Kennedy and the other foundation. They seem to be very open and willing to communicate, and I will know where my money is going to be spent.
Jake's let me use their wireless in March although i wasnt a guest there - i purchased coffee and cocktails and was allowed sit there for an hour or so while checking my mails
They were really obliging....
Wow! "What a Shame" Seems you are jumping to some strongly adverse conclusions very quickly with hardly any foundation!
Why would BREDS have to join this forum? They are a completely seperate entity? It is like any of us, we choose when we read and participate in this forum... why can't BREDS do the same? I imagine they are very busy people - all of them.
They have a website of their own, and an office and contacts of their own. Several people that visit this site have contacted them directly with their questions and concerns. Others could do the same I am sure.
All questions. No answers. Disappointing.
Southern Supplies and Services does sell some computer supplies. Nothing is in the old BREDS office yet as they've only been closed for about a week.
To me this is a backward move by Breds to close this office. What is more important - encouraging Technology usage or investing in a Sports Park when more than half the Community is against such investment? The writing is on the wall.
If it is a matter of affordability then simply it would mean making some strategic changes - but I didn't expect to see the office CLOSED!!! Archaic move to me.
so where is the breds office now?
Perhaps some of this energy spent focusing on one organisation could be better spent setting up an alternative.
When I was at the BREDS place several months ago, a very knowledgeable young man named Shawn was in charge of the office. Better than that, he was helping a young lady who lived in the area who did not have her own computer at home. Where did Shawn and the BREDS office move?
Sean is gone to College - so that's the story.
I believe Sean has left the employ of BREDS.
Sean has left BREDS and the TB area to further his education in Kingston. He will be greatly missed by many of us!
Wishing you well Sean in all of your endeavors - but sure hope you come back home after your studies are complete.
Selfishly speaking . . . as I miss you already
I wish Sean all the best. He is a wonderful young man.
Now, who knows where the BREDS office has moved? Who can tell us if they plan to open another Internet cafe?
I'm certainly sorry to learn of the closing of the BREDS office. It really offered tremendous service to the citizens and visitors of Treasure Beach. I would like to thank Jason (Henzel) for the service that was rendered through his instrumentality. Thanks also to Sean who has been so patient, kind and helpful. Wish you all the best in your endeavours.
So many PC's are being recycled and thrown away in N America.
A few PC buffs could set up a business and sell at a fair price if the freight did not push up the price too much.
My flat screen and a pentium 3 processor with a 12.7 Gb hard drive cost C$100 each at Joe (real name) up the road. Recycled and C$ 20 per hour labour is his charge.
Another case of my bright ideas that I have no time to run with. Anyone? Any city in N America would have possibilities of a link.
Then; a TB wireless link up...and why not? wi nuh fool-fool!
