The National Anthem

Eternal Father, Bless our Land,
Guard us with thy mighty hand,
Keep us free from evil powers,
Be our light through countless hours,
To our leaders, great defender,
Grant true wisdom from above,
Justice, truth be ours forever,
Jamaica, land we love,
Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica, land we love

Teach us true respect for all,
Stir response to duty's call,
Strengthen us the weak to cherish,
Give us vision lest we perish,
Knowledge send us Heavenly Father,
Grant true wisdom from above,
Justice, truth be ours forever,
Jamaica, land we love,
Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica, land we love

To "Jamaicans to the World", you have captured the sentiment of many Jamaicans not only world-wide, but here at home as well.

As a 3 year old Jamaican - I am proudly flying the Jamaican flag from the front of my home and my car. Cyan no prouder!!

Let's hear from others on what you are doing to show your pride "to the world"!

Gentle reminder:
It is "GUARD us with they mighty hand"
Not GUIDE.

Of course the word 'guide' is a not a bad one, but, as written in the anthem, it is 'guard', not 'guide'.

Well, we should always be proud of Ja, whether we accomplish great things at the olympics or otherwise. Yes, the athletes did us proud and as a "Jam down" girl, from T/Beach mi feel proud, but you know what mi proud a Jamaica all the time and it's nice to be seen in a different light around the world of the great talents that Jamaicans possessed instead of being the #1 in crime rate. Maybe, we may have more tourist going to Jamaica to eat up some of the yam, breadfruit and other ground provisions, especially the U.S, athletes............never know!!!!

I don't think the tourists have stopped coming to JA because of crime. Cautious, but everyone loves JA., the people, the food.

I just got home from a very long and HOT day in Kingston. It seemed whenever I stopped for a traffic light, or traffic jam of some kind, all of us with our windows down in our cars were chatting with each other, commenting on the heat, etc. Even the window washers and vendors at the lights were chatting away - I got into quite a philosophical conversation for about 30 second with one window washer. One car full of folks asked me if I was enjoying my stay. How nice, seriously. This is one of those "Jamaicanisms" I just love. I don't believe I've ever got into conversations with total strangers caught in traffic, or windshield washers in any other country. And this happened in that "big bad city".

There is a new bumper sticker out which I just love, Jamaica flag in the background and the words are "One Country/One Family". The more we practice this, the more we will feel it and then we will know it.

I am with you all on just how proud i am of the Jamaican athletes as a fellow Jamaican , even though i have my US citizenship here, i still can hardly stop smiling about how we just took control of the Gold medals man that was very excitng to watch ,i was in my living room screaming and cheering all my friends here in the states were quite impressed that for such a small island we did "big things " at the Olympics. Proud to be Jamaican yes indeed.
