Just as an FYI
That video will only play to viewers in the USA. Can't seem to find any other video of it either.
Check youtube Shauna.
Try this one for fun while we wait http://media.putfile.com/Fastest-Humans-AliveJamaica
Thanks turey. I'll check there today. Yesterday youtube only had the qualifying runs and the one that showed his gold run had been removed. Hopefully someone can get it on.
I have a question: Why don't Jamaican's train for and enter more olympic games--such as gymnastics, swimming, beach volley ball, etc. They seem capable of doing anything they put their mind to. Afterall, they even had a bobsled team, although it doesn't snow in Jamaica. I mean, I am an old woman, so I can't try out for anything, but how about the young folks with wide-eye dreams?
I would guess funding has a lot to do with it.
Jamaica has a serious problem- the have and the have nots!!! not that other countries don't have the same problem. I think it's about time some Jamaican start to prioritize and put their money where they can see results. Out the ghetto of Waterhouse comes an Olympic champion. There are many more champions in Jamaica but we too busy chasing the wrong things. Maybe the sports centre is not a bad idea, maybe we will develop some champions.
Is there a process set in place where they (gifted athletes) can be identified, train, and then seek sponsors? I'm sure funds could be raised from private enterprizes--even -via TB net.
Yes people time come now for us to take care of our talent right here.
I support the creation of a number of sports/training facilities in each parish....in appropriate locations.
Were all the bling melted, we could more than do the job ;-)
Were all the taxes used as they should be, I cannot even imagine the results.
If the $ dedicated to boastiness was channeled correctly...!
If I put my words into practice...good place to start.
Hey TRUE JAMAICAN, You make a point there. Perhaps we all could take responsibility for pushing more young Jamaicans in the direction of sportsmanship. It sure would serve to deter crime and save innocent lives.
