Here's what the US National Hurricane Center shows for Tropical Storm Fay. It looks like it will not be a major problem for Jamaica, even less so for the south coast. But watch out in Cuba and Florida.

It has been very very hot here the last two days with brief showers in the evenings. Today is overcast and humid, but no rain so far. The sea is calm and beautiful right now.

We've had a few showers, and one torrential rain for about 20 minutes. I went to Junction this afternoon. Sun was shining there and so was everyone's moods. No talk of the weather - all talk about Usain!! I saw more pickney running along the side of the road today . . . gotta love it.

Very overcast, off and on rain, and very very humid.

I just got a phone call from Rebecca and all is well for the most part in light of TS Fay.

There is no electricity, water, or land lines currently, but there is a whole heap of Jamaican pride at not only Mr. Bolt's gold yesterday but the Jamaican sweep of the woman's 100 meter dash: they took gold, silver, and bronze! She wanted me to pass along a quote: "It take a woman"

There has been off and on rain, the sea is rough but nothing terrible, and everyone is OK. Ocho Rios is reporting similar condition but electricity is there.

Finally getting back on-line this morning. The storm was a typical tropical "weather" for us. Not much wind at all and some rain, heavy at times. Most fell between 1 and 8 Sunday morning. I'm guessing between 1 - 2 inches. The sea was a bit rough, but again, not so bad and it is already calming way down today. There are a few remaining clouds in the sky, but the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day!

It seems the worst part of the storm was JPS (our electricity source). During the entire night Saturday night/Sunday morning the power was going on and off with major surges. We lost power around 5 in the morning and got it back around noon to find out there was, again, major power surges. As a result many of us had appliances fried. I found out I lost my surge protector and modem. I am currently at a friend's as I have to find a new modem today. I was one of the lucky ones. I've heard of many in the area loosing their refrigerators, TV's, microwaves and many many surge protectors are shot. It seems Mother Nature spared us this time, but we still got shocked.
