Who won?

I actually saved a copy of the posting. (And, I do recall that Eric, our Webmaster, somehow thought the wrong Eric had won.)

Here's what got posted on June 26, 2008:

We have a winner for the Doubloon Villa raffle—Eric and Karen Nodiff of White Plains, New York.

I was able to reach Eric almost immediately, and he couldn’t believe his good fortune. (First he thought I was kidding.) After he realized he’d really won, this is what he had to say:

“WOW - this is incredible. Just what the doctor ordered! Winning a stay in beautiful Treasure Beach is making us smile ear to ear. It's been a couple of years since we had the pleasure of staying in that mini-paradise. We look forward to the serenity of quiet walks on the beach, lunching on fresh fish at Floyd's awesome place in the middle of the Caribbean, and enjoying the company of the super-friendly residents. A huge thanks to those responsible for Treasure Beach Foundation and its terrific efforts in helping the local community. We SO look forward to the trip!”

On behalf of all the Directors of Treasure Beach Foundation, I offer sincere thanks to the many, many people who bought raffle tickets or gave outright donations to the Scholarship Fund. In today’s uncertain economy, we were somewhat apprehensive about the response we would get; however, we were extremely gratified by how you came through for us. There are so many people who care deeply for Treasure Beach and its citizens—and understand the great importance of an excellent education.

I also want to extend special thanks to Judy Hanley, owner of Doubloon Villa. Judy not only offered Doubloon for this year’s raffle; she has helped spearhead the annual Stuart Duggan Memorial Scholarship which we administer.
