What I want to know is this fundraiser only for Sandy Bank Primary School.
What about the other schools in the area? Pedro Plains, Geneva, New Combe Valley.
I live close to Toronto and spending almost 200 bucks and only one school is getting the benefit is ridiculous.

Hi Pop,

This is some information I did receive from Karl Hale a while back, I would not assume the funding is for Sandy Bank Primary school only, I am sure Karl will read address your concern.

Our goal is to raise $1,000,000 for Jamaican Hospitals and education through our annual "Jamaica Charity Ball". The first two years we have raised about $60,000. The mandate is to keep the existing recipients and add slowly. Therefore, Sandy Banks Primary over the next 5 years will be one of the top schools in Jamaica with the amount of funding we will provide.

Thank you for your concern about our fundraiser. Our organization Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation has an annual fundraiser(this will be our 3rd)that raises funds for Jamaican Schools and Hospitals. Port Antonio Hospital and Cornwall Regional Hospital have been recipients of our fundraiser as well. Sandy Banks is one of the schools we have partnered with along with Breds because of there professionalism, commitment and dedication. For us to have a significant impact we need strong partners and this has been very much the case with Ms. Moxam and Jason Henzell in Treasure Beach.
We sincerely value this partnership and are doing our best to assist all of the children in Treasure Beach and Sandy Banks Primary School.
We need everyone's support in the community that live in Toronto to assist us in making better schools and healthcare facilties in Jamaica by coming to our fundraiser. We can make Sandy Banks a top primary school in Jamaica!
That being said the fundraiser is a spectacular evening with great food, entertainment at Canada's premier private club. Please join us September 26th Toronto, Canada call 416 598 3008 3rd Annual Jamaica Charity Ball!!

Sincerely,

Karl Hale
Chairman
Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation

Come on Pop, we have to support one another. If you promoted your favorite charity I am sure those of us from TB will give a helping hand. Today for you, tomorrow for me.

Well said Girl! I am thrilled Mr. Hale and his associates have picked Sandy Bank School, and am very thankful for all the hard work and effort they put into these fund raisers and the follow-up to make sure the hard earned money is being well spent. I'm sure once they get the schools, hospitals, and all the other places they currently help up to a certain standard, they will move on to other places and projects.

What is good for one school, hospital, etc. is good for all of Jamaica. Upliftment starts with one project and grows from there.

Speaking of one project, Pop, as you are obviously interested in helping a particular school, please remember when you are hosting a fund raiser for that school make sure to post the details on TB.Net so others can come out and help support your project.

There is no such thing as the wrong way to donate with love. I have the things I like to support, others have theirs--the important thing is the giving and the love. There is never a good reason to criticize those who are giving--save your criticism for those who don't give! What an awful cold wet blanket to throw on generous people. I certainly hope those critics are doing more for their communities than these lovely Canadian people! Go Canada--and good luck!! Hope all your dinners are a great success!

As far as I see this site only promote and support Sandy Bank School. I am sure thats not the only school in the area that needs help.

I see that you are being biased too Rebecca cause you are happy that Sandy Bank School got picked. I have been reading this site for quite a few years now and I have never seen you go out of your way to recogonize any other school.

Yes Pop, I have a bias for any school receiving help as all schools need the help. This is a Treasure Beach based website, so naturally the things that get posted on this site would be mostly based in Treasure Beach. Certainly, if anyone was hosting any fund raisers for ANY other schools in the area, we would post this. To presume otherwise is to not know this site and what we represent.

I really don't understand the argument here. Isn't the goal to help out the children? Again, please let us know of the fund raiser you are holding for your favorite school and we will be happy to post it here and would encourage folks to help out. Isn't that the bottom line?

Let us put all this energy towards helping and not hindering. That is all I ask. Positive vibes bring positive results.

For the record, you can search this site and find posts that talk about fundraisers, reunions, etc. for Sandy Bank Basic, Newell High, Black River High, Pedro Plains Primary, Munro, Hampton and more.

You can also find posts from people asking what other schools in the wider area need assistance. We have continually tried to support an information exchange for any and all educational institutions on the island.

There are a few things to keep in mind:
As Karl pointed out above, the fact that Sandy Bank Primary has people like Mrs. Moxam and Miss Zane working there and partners like Breds makes it much easier to accomplish their development goals. Organization is such an important part of success in endeavors like these. Our suggestion to those who wish to help their particular school/group is to identify individuals who will put in the hard work required to make things happen.

Next, as Rebecca points out since SBP is in the main school in the immediate area, its natural that it would get more support and more 'buzz' on this site.

Lastly, TreasureBeach.Net (run by Rebecca & Eric) does not host these fund raisers, reunions, etc. We provide a forum for people to exchange information about these events. We are committed to providing that forum to anyone who puts forth their effort to help a school, community group, etc. regardless of where it is.

Special thanks go to those who have already helped such as Karl and all the others too numerous to mention here. Keep fighting the good fight!

-TBNet

I am sure if fund raising is needed anywhere in Jamaica and someone put their message on this web site they will be treated just as fairly as this fund raising is now.
As a native of Treasure Beach I'm here-by asking "pop" to gather some people from his district and get their fund raising organized then post it here and for sure everyone in and around TB will be willing to help.
As the saying goes "one hand washes the other".
You help me I will help you.

It is no different than a person enveying someone winning the Lottery when they themself could spend the same ($1.00) and buy a ticket.

REMEMBER IF YOU HAVE A TICKET YOU HAVE A CHANGE.
Remember if you don't play you can't win.

SO THE MESSAGE HERE IS, GIVE AND YOU WILL RECEIVE ALSO>
