How long does it take to get to Sunny Island by boat? Which TB bay would be the closest and shortest boat ride to the island? Has anyone been there this year?

Real name for sun island is alligator reef
it is a long reef 2 miles south of alligator pond
the reef had a white sand bank the size of a football field

we named it sun island to make it into a tourist attraction
takes an hour boat ride from Frenchman's beach

I always take people there some years ago snorkeling
or just to sun bath

I understand the sand was wash away during the big storm
don't know if it ever came back

Sunny Island is just off Alligator Pond and takes about an hour by boat from TB. Unfortunately the place was severly "modified" by hurricanes Ivan & Dean and is not now the place it one was.

Thank you, Uncle Peter, Denise and Landowner. Have you been since the hurricanes and would you recommend it even though it has been "modified"? Would taking a boat around the Little Ochie area be faster or is there another place that would be better? Anyone else been there recently?

It was also 'modified' by dynamiting the reef nearby which prevented the sand from coming back
