We are very pleased to host a slideshow and list of accomplishments of the Treasure Beach Women's Group (TBWG). They are an impressive organization involved in such activities as providing needed gift bags to the elderly in the community, hosting medical screening and holding the annual Christmas party for local children.

They are currently accepting donations of supplies and money. Details are available on the slideshow page.
Low bandwidth (dial-up) without sound
High bandwidth with sound

Best of luck to them and we encourage everyone to help them to reach their very worthy goals by donating what you can.

Also: Look for a report on the Official Opening of the new TBWG House to be held on Friday, August 5.

Enjoy!

Treasure Beach’s very own Glasceta Honeyghan

Reading excerpts from her new book

We’re in America Now Baybee

Time: 6:00 p.m.
Date: Saturday: March 5
Place: Jack Sprat

The story is about a young woman KayLee, who had disquieting thoughts, a perpetual yearning for her small world in Shady Hill Jamaica—a yearning—mysterious and luring, but she felt compelled to turn her back upon it and to press on deeper into the heart of America and into that of her new-found love—Chris.

Born in Jamaica, Glasceta Honeyghan is an associate professor in the division of teacher education at Florida Memorial University in Miami, Florida. She is the author of three other novels—Father sleeps with the Mudpies, Stop blaming me for my mother’s sins, and Follow the river home, and a collection of poems-- Unexpectedly…a freshness. Her novels are mostly sparks to ignite a revival of the appreciation of Jamaica's rich tradition. She has also written numerous articles that have appeared in scholarly publications such as Language Arts, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, and Florida Reading Quarterly.
